- If APM supports SBUS, you can connect X8R directly and you have from 9-16 on the plugs. So, fully use of all 16 Channels

From experience, the APM doesn't support SBUS, but there are plenty of SBUS/PPM converters that will allow you to pair them up. I use the FrSky converter for this very combination.

Lots of good info.
So to resume external djt module no rssi on screen only beep sounds.
internal tx with d8r-ii plus or x8r i can get onscreen rssi with voice.

I think i will buy the taranis and try it with my d9r-ii plus. Then go from there...
They are always new mods coming out.
I got the 5db antenna because i could not get more then 800m with the stock 2db antenna + djt module + turnigy 9x v2(default firmware) + d8r-ii plus.

APM doesn't support sbus.

MAVBoard Pro 1.5 Telemetry from boltrc looks interesting...
If i wanted voltage on taranis screen would i just need to buy one of these FrSky FAS-40S Smartport Amp Sensor?

Anyone know how to solve this issue.

I turned off the throttle warning and the switch warning.
This I assumed would stop the press any key to continue, with the hope it would connect quicker while testing my failsafe on osd.

Rather than having the motor spinning trying to reconnect, while I hunt for a button to press whilst holding the model back.

Sure both of those previous messages are disabled,

Now I get a warning that the alarm is disabled "Press a key to skip"
Which completely defeats the purpose of turning off the alarms.

If anyone can figure out what I've done or not done as the case maybe, it will be much appreciated.

Pretty certain on the first page of model settings, 'page 2', you can....

(a) configure the 'default' switch positions

(b) enable/disable complete switch position check procedure.

I have the taranis .. I have bound it to two receivers on two different model set ups.. yet if I put power to both planes it connects both to the taranis how is this possible

Congrats! Well, this is "normal", if you don't use model-match.

I hope, you have some X8R receiver. With them, you can define a RX-number (in Companion on the Configuration Tab of the model, just below the protokol-setting).

Rebind both model and then it works.

Tip: Use Rx-number 1 for the first model, 2 for the second model, and so on.

I'm not shure about these guys. Do you bind in D8 mode? Then you have no model match. If they support D16 mode, try it.

Has anyone added a 5dbi antenna to their Taranis?

I'm not comfortable doing the soldering needed to mod mine. I looked at BoltRC who now sell a replacement back board with the soldering already done. Once you add on postage though it would be cheaper for me to buy a DJT module and add the 5dbi antenna to that.

Had anyone done this or similar with their radio?

You haven't seen my soldering :-) I've looked at a video on YouTube of someone doing it and it looks very intricate and plenty of potential for me to screw up my radio :-\

Hardest part is stripping the wire on the new antenna!

FYI.  The stock antenna has taken me well beyond 1.5km.   Not really sure one 'needs' the higher db antenna.

I've spotted a route that would be really cool to do between Barbury Castle (an Iron Age hill fort) and a white horse (Hackpen Hill). They're about 1.5 miles apart which would exceed the range of the stock antenna.

I haven't really pushed my standard setup yet though, now I have fall safe set up I can start to get a bit braver..

Stock antenna has taken me to 2.5km - with no RSSI warnings (though I should point out I was using the 40cm antenna extensions on the rx so I could have these way out of the way of anything else - and have the sleeve dipoles on)

Could have gone further... not sure how much, as I was running out of lipo and bravery.  I'm not seeing a need to go higher gain at the moment though.
