erm... aren't they all the same :+

No Adam
Cliverleaf antennas have 3 elements and normally go on the vtx and skew planer have 4 elements and normally fit on the vrx
However, the norm now is just skew planers on both the vtx and vrx because of the better multipath rejection at very little loss of gain
That's why I only do skew planers
Btw your box came today, I'll try and do sometime over the weekend for you
Cheers

Simon,

PM sent.

PS Purely out of interest, why do you refer to Tx antennas as Skews? I thought most people used Cloverleaf antennas (4 leaf) as Tx antennas and Skew antennas (3 leaf) for the Rx.
The reason I want only Tx antennas is to fit them to all of my current fixed wing planes, in readiness for receiving an RSSI Pro Tracker reciving system (which has 3 9+ turn helicals on it).

Hi Martin
Some confusion here I think
Cloverleaf antennas have 3 elements and are laid out on the coax at 120 degree angles and when looking down onto the antenna you'll see the cloverleaf pattern
Skew planers are set out 90 degrees and when looking down from the top onto the elements you'll see a slight overlap of about 17 degrees, not always but there abouts, not sure why they are called skew planer antennas though, one for Ian I think

So what you will be selling me are actually Cloverleaf (3 leaf) antennas - Yes ??

No, 4 lead skew planers, it'll be far better for you Martin

I trust and believe in you.

It's just amazing how many people out there are selling sets (wrong), i.e. the other way round - clover for tx and skew for rx.

That's why I have come to you - to get the best vtx antennas !!

Hi Bignose, can you sort me out a pair of Skew planers please for my Immersion 5.8 kit.
Let me know how to go about paying you -paypal etc.

Simon,

Id like to place an order for one of your legendary 5 Turn Helicals on 5.8Ghz....(with one of those semi ridgid flexy coaxs on it)

I have a paypal acc, if you can let me know the going rate etc...

Cheers....Dave.

BTW...Im currently using a 4 element Skew and a cheap patch on my diversity Monitor...the patch pulls about 30% more signal in but its not very stable as the signal strength bounces around a bit...What kind of vtx anttenna should I be using with my patch? The patch has 4 small squares in each corner and I set this side facing the vtx?...I still get a pretty good signal, even at 1800 metres, but wonder if Im using it right?

The face as you have it there needs to face the craft your flying mate, however, do you have a link to the patch? Pretty sure it could be a linear and not a CP

Simon,

Thats what I was wondering, a linear Patch....So does this mean I should have a Dipole on my Vtx then?....and if so, what happens if the plane is banked over at 90 degrees, is the signal affected?....Anyway, most, in fact all my vtx skews are rhcp, so its a moot point as Im interested now in your 5 turn helical...:)

That said, the other day, my mate flew with a standard Dipole on his vtx, and a skew on his vtx...To my suprise it worked pretty well, although he didnt go that far out. As you suggested, I do have the 4 squares facing the plane in use, this does give the best signal...My diversity monitor has a numeric % for recieved signal on both recievers, which is one of the reasons I bought it, other than the vrry bright LCD backlit display....1800 metres is my PB, but without an AP its a bit risky..I now have a Storm AP...so, I want to go further...Plus I have the EZUHF to try out soon.....:).....Regards....Dave.
