Now the newbie question you say " helical has 60 degree beam" does this mean that the angle of signal is much narrower than a std rubber duckie?? so if i am not looking in the rough direction of quad i will get a weaker signal?? :-[

If you hold your arms out straight at 60 degree angle, everything you see between your arms will be in the helical beam, and if you extend your arms 2-3 k then you get the idea

We have AVL58s on a DJI S800 but there is quite a bit of signal break up on the video downlink.
Could you recommend a set up that would improve the situation?

If you have Diversity screen on your groundstation or Diversity Goggles I would go for one of my Skew/Helical sets
TBH I'm not sure what an AVLS is? Could you link to it or maybe send a couple of pics

I tried a 1.2GHz Skew made by Simon yesterday, very happy to report perfect performance, not even the slightest bit of interference / drop out.
