Naza M Lite Fail Safe RTH...with AR6200?

Hi All,

I am currently using the Naza M Lite to control my quad....however I am wondering about setting
the fail safe for RTH.

Currently, I am using a Spektrum DX6I and a Spektrum AR6200 receiver, I have already
set RTH, and can activate by setting my 'mode' switch on my Tx to failsafe, however I have found myself
wondering weather it is possible to set RTH failsafe with the AR6200, so when I turn off my Tx I still
get the same activation?

I know it is possible with others, but I have read conflicting viewd with the AR6200.

It says in the manual that only the throttle goes to a preset setting, the rest keep the last command position so it won`t work.

I know there is a work around for one receiver, there is a thread on about it on here if you have a look.

Failing that, buy an Orange Rx instead and have full failsafe feature instead
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Can you not swap Throttle with Aux1 (ie receiver to Naza, Throttle goes to U, Aux1 goes to T), and use heli mode so flat throttle curves select flight mode (adjust percentage to hit the blue section), throttle hold sets throttle into the failsafe range, then bind with hold on to give failsafe on signal loss.

Only issue is pitch (which is driving throttle) will hold last position, so assumes you will be over 10% throttle when you lose signal, but that should be a fairly safe bet and certainly better than doing nothing.

I haven't tried this, but can't see why it wouldn't work, and other than changing receivers, I think may be only option.

I've set 2 friends Naza's up recently, both had receivers that only had the throttle available as failsafe.

Overcame this the way that Jamesb has just mentioned.

Set the model up as a Heli with the swash type as a 1servo/90' swash, that way you have the throttle AND pitch on the same stick (assuming mode 2). Instead of connecting the rx throttle o/p to the Naza's throttle i/p, I connected it to the U i/p on the Naza. Using the throttle to find where the failsafe was, we rebound it. That way, the throttle returns to this position in the event of signal loss.

To then set up the flight modes, we just configured the throttle curves as flatline curves, so Norm was around 93% for GPS, IU 1 was around 50%ish for Atti and 13% for Manual ( from memory!)

With the Pitch plugged into the throttle it now drives the throttle on the Naza quite happily using a 0-100% diagonal curve.

This method worked on a AR6200 and a futaba r617fs.

This works on some 6200's and doesn't work on other.
The only way to know is try.

Insert the bind plug as normal
Power the Rx
Remove bind plug (light should flash slower / differnet.
Set the tx positions and switches
Bind to Tx
Cycle power.

Then test in the assistant.

Thanks for all the input guys,
I think I'll try binding normally, with centered sticks, fail safe on and 50% throttle, and see what happens.
If not then I'll guess I'll have to try this heli set up.......But I'll give the original a go first. Fingers Crossed.

At the moment when I turn my Tx off (with no fail safe enabled), all I get is the Naza staying the same!..which is expected....never tried it mid flight though ;))

Definitely don't try this in flight, take props off and check on the ground, failsafe is fast orange flashing LED, if you get that when you turn tx off you're golden, if not then don't fly.

Maybe later AR6200 had preset failsafe ? I'd be surprised as someone I know has an AR6210 (the updated DSMX version) and that does not have preset failsafe, he's tried the preset bind sequence and still gets hold on everything but throttle.

What you're talking about is the preset failsafe, ie, a failsafe for all switch, gain's, trims etc etc. Some Rx's have it and some don't, I use a JR RD921 which has this feature.

For my Rx I set the model up into the way I wanted the RTH to behave in failsafe, then turned off and performed the bind procedure you described. repowered and then set it up how I want it to behave in normal flight conditions.

If you can't get this to work on your 6200, then the way i did it with friends RX's definitely works and has been tested. Any Q's about the procedure I'm here at the end of a PM.

Ok,

Well I just tried binding again with 50% throttle and switches in fail safe mode...linked it up
to assistant with no success of fail safe when Tx power turned off ://

Looks like this is an AR6200 that simply holds last position of all channels.....

So I guess I would like to go down the heli programming route, as I don't really fancy getting
an orange tx......

Can we expand on how to go about heli programming----I have the gist...?

The AR6200 definitely will go to bind position for throttle, other channels will hold last position, make sure you wait a few seconds after binding completes before touching sticks. 50% throttle may not work, best to hook up assistant with props removed, move throttle stick till failsafe is highlighted, then power off rx/tx and bind without touching throttle stick - this should then failsafe on signal loss, you can test in naza assistant.

This video demonstrates the preset vs hold failsafe which shows this clearly on AR6210 I am certain the AR6200 will behave identically (don't have one to show with).

For the heli setup, setup video below shows model settings for Naza using Heli model, also shows how you can test/verify you have failsafe correctly set to return home (fast orange flashing LED) which is vital.

If your using a receiver which only has failsafe on throttle you need to set flat throttle curves (not pitch) for flight modes and connect ch1 to u on naza and ch6 to t on naza, but otherwise it should be the same.

The second video is showing Preset Failsafe. The AR6200, or at least some or the 2 that I've tried, can't do this.

So which is better to go for, pre-set or hold? Or is it likely my AR6200 won't do a preset?
I am willing to try both, but would like an idea what will be best....? Want to get this
done before starting to FPV fly @;))

Best is preset, but if you can't do that with your 6200, then the "Heli Method" is imo just as good.
