Morning folks.

If you were to place an order with HobbyKing on the 12th June, and it showed as being shipped, via airmail, on the 13th June, would you be thinking about whether it was ever going to turn up by now?

I've been told by them that it was posted "over teh counter" on the 24th June, which is still 4 weeks ago....

Its disappointing to hear that it takes that long.. I did my first order from the International Warehouse and was expecting it any day... Its been 2 weeks now and I am wondering whether I am in for a long wait.

I am more than aware that packages from overseas can take anything from 2-8 weeks and generally get them in 3-5.. But for some reason, in the back of my mind, I expected HK to be quicker.. But now I come to think of it, why would they be.

I have had 3 orders from GoodLuckBuy in the past month.. One took 6 weeks.. One 2.. And one is still AWOL (but its only been 4 weeks so far).

So I suspect HK are going to be like any other Chineese supplier and we just have to sit tight, wait.. And hope that Customs and Excise don't' pay too much attention as my £40 battery charger could get very expensive!

If you selected one of the airmail options, then there appears to be a serious issue with that service at the moment. I'm still waiting for two orders from the end of May and their current status shows as having been sent to the Langley depot at Heathrow. I guess the backlog is in UK customs. After 30-something days I raised a dispute in paypal and HK came back to me saying that this service can take up to 39 BUSINESS days. Since then I have escalated the claim in paypal as the orders still have not arrived and I don't want to claim time period to expire.

If you paid with paypal then keep an eye on time and raise a dispute before it expires, you can always cancel it but once the time has passed or you have closed it, then you cannot open it again. Claim thru paypal not HK, more chance of success.

In the meantime, I've ordered and had delivered an order using the uk direct channel service, which is what i've always used in the past. It took a bit longer than before but no more than three weeks ,usually about two.

I've had a response from a ticket with HK telling me the transit time is 39 business days.  I assume this means working days, and not weekends etc?

I've still got an order outstanding from the end of May, status showing shipped to Langley, Heathrow.   I didn't realise at the time that paypal has a 45 day limit on claims, so I have to wait more time before I can raise it with Hobbyking, then about another month before they will class it as lost...

It was a Mobius camera I'd said I'd get for a trip my sister was going on.  I ended up having to get another from Joovuu, it cost about £18 more but came next day.  I'm tending to look around a bit more to see what I can get from the UK, there are some good prices around,  a bit more than HK but you have them within the week and can get on with the job you want to do.

i agree mark lately ive been finding some pretty good deals on cameras and vtxs in the uk lately added benefit quick delivery and the aftersales is a bit more easier i guess..

No, don't wait start the claim now and then you have 20 days (?) to escalate it, I just waited a week. Ignore anything from HK and just deal with PayPal.

If you are given the option of DHL express from hobbyking then it's a very good service to use. My recent order was sent from Hong Kong on Friday and tracking showed it in Scotland having been through customs and east Midlands airport the day after. It was delivered on Monday. Not bad!

Any duty? If so, what are their handling/admin fees like compared to Royal Mail.

Nixy

Duty was £21. Carriage charge £30, £10 more than the standard airmail but worth it for the quick delivery. Item was a plank in large box.

Anyone know what their delivery times are from their EU warehouse (in the Netherlands)? I had my first order dispatched on Friday, and I assume it will take a few days.. But I am not so sure now...

I've only done one euro order, reckon it was a good week, like 5 or 6 working days. On another note, just got an email from paypal letting me know they have refunded me on one of the two missing orders, the smaller one of the two I'm waiting on. Sods law it'll turn up tomorrow!

I've ordered from both the International Warehouse and the UK and all orders have been delivered in what I'd consider a reasonable time, international order was about 12 working days and UK orders within 48hrs. However....... My last order from the UK warehouse that I placed on Wednesday morning and payed for 24hr Express delivery is at present still residing in the printer que, three days later.  I needed the items for this weekend hence paying the extra for express delivery.

Trying to get any info is like squeezing blood from a stone. I don't have any UK contact details so I used the live chat facility to see if they could enquire as to why the delay, all the items I ordered are in stock. All they were able to furnish me with was a cut and paste of their FAQ document.

Reading the HK forums it would seem that the service I had previously received was an exception to the norm and my most recent experience is what I should actually expect  :(
