Perfect, could I get one in Orange please ? I've got the GoPro box too. Is it possible to get it so it covers both cameras ?

The problem is it clips against the ply panel in the middle of the bay, if I made it go right across you'd never get it off!

I can do that, but not sure how you'd set the GoPro to record then get it out again.

I'm still trying to fathom a strange patch of interference in the middle of nowhere about 5Km from where I launch from, it disappears when I fly through it yet my helical is still pointing in the same direction i.e. i am the other side of the patch of interference. I'm going to try a different channel next time.

Just watched this and it looks like there is still quite a bit of yaw wobble present, I wonder if I should try adding some vertical fins on the sides of the center section similar to the Z3 to reduce that. My hack job doesn't seem to have much in the way of the wagging with those fins there.

Having owned and flown an actual Z3 which still suffered from yaw wobble, at anything above stall speed this wing is better in so many ways, it's meant to cruise around at 60Kph and we were flying much slower.

:D I don't doubt it, was just thinking out loud really as to whether adding the fins may help a bit.

Once mine arrives I might have a play at making some removable ones that could attach to the inside of the plywood section. Would be interesting if I can do it to do a comparison of on vs off and see if they actually make any difference. In my head they should help, but I don't know much about actual aerodynamics so I have a simplistic view! :P

I really don't see much wag at all. There was some turbulent air caused by the wind blowing through the trees behind us, so when low and banking it did wobble.
Wings will yaw, it's a fact of not having a tail bud.

Yeah, I don't want to come across as saying it doesn't look good as thats not what I mean at all. I wouldn't have bought one if I didn't think it looked great!

I was watching back some of my old videos there on the botched together wing, and it does wobble as well. I think I get selective memory sometimes!

iPeel - can I order one of the little plastic inserts as well, in black if possible?

Did you find this location of the control horn to be good?

Yeah, works great. The control horn needs to be at the front of the elevon for definite, I've built then farther back in the middle of the elevon and got told off by Rob and John. You might want the servos a little farther back though, mine are as far forward as you can get away with and in fact I need a slight bend in the control rod to miss the top of the wing.

Where do you guys get those post type control horns?


I saw them on EFPV and was holding off buying them, now it seems that store is no longer with us and I'm on the lookout for them :)

Mine just arrived today, have to say I'm really impressed so far, looks really nice! My wing tips look a bit taller as well, and have a nice carbon reinforced rod through them.

Can't wait to get building!

How have you guys been securing the top hatch down? Using its own friction? Tape? Velcro?

At the front by making a laminate hinge over the back of the camera bay and at the back using velcro straps. If you don't have the plate at the back of the equipment bay like my prototype does then use a velcro strap stuck to the vertical foam section in the front of the motor bay.

It doesn't need to be really secure, just enough to stop it doing an "air brake" when you come in to land. When you're flying the air pressure will be enough to keep the hatch down.

Taking shape now, next step is to cut out holes for servos, VTx and Rx!




Greig, I find the overhead toss pretty reliable, just grip on one side and give it a good loft over your head! Gives plenty of time for it to even out and pick up speed, and crucially for you to get hands on the sticks.

Looks like iPeel and Brucey use similar methods!

I'd love to but £90 an Rx is just too much! Should have ~5km range with the L9R so that should be plenty for me!
