An update and apologies for the delay in bringing this to you -
Build Log for Venturi EVO FPV

This is the first time I've used laser cut parts, what a mucky job it is cutting them out & sanding off the carbonised ply. On the fondly held principle that preparation is 90% of a build I dry fitted twice, sanded and rubbed with permagrit and needle files and then assembled and tacked with CY. I then completed the joints with Titebond wood glue (do not forget to remove excess glue before it dries with a wet cloth) – I agree with Sheldon on the use of CY tack and PVA for the bonding strength, the slow drying time for the PVA allows it to soak into the wood fibres before setting. I used acrylic car paint spray on the plywood, much sank into the wood but where I'd used the wood glue it did not – I suspect that giving the whole plywood carcass a thin coating of glue will make painting much easier and produce a smoother finish. Following Brucey's lead I've left off the front panel and Fore & Aft stiffener in the nose to install a cased Gopro I've installed a shelf and collision bulkhead to take my Gopro.
I followed iPeel's advice on laminating the wings leaving the forward part of the underside until after wing installation so I could get Por onto the full length of the spar. I've used a Prolux digital iron set at 115C(I tried 110C but it was not quite hot enough) remember start at the centre work outwards. Take your time and make sure the glue has melted before moving on to the next patch. This is more like "Pressing" than a swift smoothing action.

I secured the motor mount to the fuse with 4m bolts, nylock nuts and penny washers from model fixings.com. In anticipation of an urge to fiddle I have modified the bottom epp after end into a hinge secured by Velcro. The hinge strengthening tape was helped with spray on adhesive.

Hi Vis colouring is with solartrim (I'm not very comfortable with the fact that the winglet straps are in a large part stuck to solartrim (which is stuck to laminate which is stuck to the foam wing) Update -An unexpected encounter with the ground left the Venturi largely undamaged and the winglets creased but still attached

Elevon deflection is 1.5cm

Servos – HS325HB (same size as HS311 but with Karbonite gears)
Motor - Turnigy Aerodrive D3536/5 1450 Kv max 45 amp
ESC - Turnigy Plush 60A
Prop Initially tested 9 x 7.5 but this produced 600W at 45 amps on ¾ throttle so down sized to 9 x 6, this produced 650W at 50 amp so reduced to 8 x 4 to get 567W on 40 amps at full throttle (all on 4s)

Has anyone come up with a better solution for the winglets? Mine are very shabby and bend a lot now. Was thinking plywood but that might be a bit heavy. Maybe depron but don't know how durable it would be.

Mine are still fine. I sharpened the end of some 3mm carbon rod then drove it vertically through the middle of the correx to strengthen them, cutting the sharp point off one it had gone through the whole winglet. That keeps them nice and straight.

Mine are already looking a bit past repair. A rather hard landing shortly after its first flight didn't help

Yo,

Venturi EVO ply parts are now mainly routed instead of lasered, less black fingers, plywood is always sooty.

Trying to see if I can make some replacement winglets. These are 6mm depron with a piece of carbon on the bottom and up through the middle

ipeel in youtube you say that flyingwings will have new delta wing? how long need to wait. I want a start build new frame. my skywalker is to slow for me.

The two that are in the pipeline at the moment are a very small wing ( a plank equivalent of a 250 ) and the Cloud Horizon that's designed for endurance and even slower than the Skywalker!

My assumption is you're looking for something more like the Venturi Evo that's fast and agile?
