My first FatShark goggles Attitude V4 Anniversary Edition

I was really excited about these and to be honest I'm a little disappointed. I flew two models with different cameras and on both I was really struggling to get the light balance right. It was either too light or too dark. My previous goggles were the Eachine Goggles 2 (Box goggles) which were really good just massive to carry around all the time. I also have the Eachine  EV100 goggles which to be honest have been pretty good too. I think the Attitude v4 has better colour and I can really notice a step up in screen size too. I'm not sure I'd like to go any larger, not for quadcopters anyway. One of my reasons for going down the FatShark route rather than Aomway was that I can add a diversity module in the future. I'm also not overly impressed with the module that comes with this and have now lost diversity which seems like a bit of a backwards step.

Anyway the main reason for getting them was because they were on a deal and were the cheapest I've seen any fatsharks (even second hand on ebay)

Just out of curiosity would you say they are worth double the price of the ev100?

Difficult to say I suppose it depends on your priorities.

The FatSharks has built in DVR (still not great) but have a bigger screen and are more comfortable. The quality is definitely better and you have piece of mind that there's good customer service if you have issues. You have the option to get a different module later too and even support the new RapidFire and maybe future models will support FatShark.

The Eachines were OK as a compact starting goggle and worked well for the price (I only paid £70). But I found it a pain to record even with the dedicated DVR (sold separately £10). I have found on mine that sometimes one screen gets snow whilst the other is OK. This (so far) has only happened when I power up a copter, not whilst flying. It's fixed by unplugging and plugging back in again but it doesn't fill me with confidence.

I think in the end you do get what you pay for and until someone produces these in the millions rather than the thousands then they will always be an expensive addition to your FPV setup.

At a £189 that's a proper bargain. I paid more than that for year old Dom HD3. The glass optics are definitely better than the plastic Dominator ones. The issue I had with the early Attitudes was they where to narrow and would not stay level. I did the ski mask mod and fixed it. But I see the new ones have that done already. In retrospect I wish I had kept them instead of changing up to the HD3 which at £500 plus are a nonsense in my opinion. I am now tempted to swap back for that price!!
Re rx modules, I have the LaForge V4 main and diversity and to be honest for ranges up to 500 meters I would not bother. I do like the Quad finder feature, used it last week when a Wing came down in a Barley crop, it was only 80 meters away but I could not see it u TIL I was on top of it. Paid for itself right there. They draw .5 of an amp in record mode with fan on so you need either 18650 batteries or 2 normal FS packs or a big lipo, ubec and lead if you are going out for an hour plus session. The DVD recorder is ok, but it is only going to record the same as you are seeing in the goggles and the firmware is very clunky. Big tip, never remove the card with the power on.

Cheers. I have the ev100 and find them OK. Much better than my Quanum V2 well much better on my head especially for walking to pick up quad  :D
Image isn't as good but very flyable.
Good to read comparisons from people who have other goggles.

For anyone in the market for some new Goggles I saw these:

I'm not going to get them now but they might end up being a bargain if you don't mind the Spectrum branding.

Because I'm too lazy to use google and look for myself, can you run me through that board.  Is it designed around iNav and fixed wing or something... what does it do that's different to a normal FC ?

Hi Wayne,
Yes, its designed with iNAV in mind...onboard LC filters, voltage regulators 9v / 12volt for video system, plenty of UARTS...and dedicated servo outputs with onboard heavy duty 5v BEC to drive them.
For Fixed Wing specifically....Onboard current sensors for two motors.
  Vertically mounted USB Port....Bliss.

Plus Matek build quality which is usually pretty good.

Hi Steve,
I know, I tried to stop myself from buying this one but failed miserably.

You see, I had a spare 4 in 1 ESC, an F3 FC, and 4 spare motors on order, so I thought why not buy this Frame off E-Bay while I wait for the motors to arrive....The real Stingy X5 is about $115 ....so it's a bargain right..?....lol.

I rather like assembling and soldering them together truth be told.....I just need to figure out what VTX to fit on it now as there is not much height in the stack...:(

I will try not to buy another one...                                           :vulture:

This is a real addiction, I did the same with the ZMR 250, got 4 hanging on the wall plus 2 kits and base boards in the spares box. In reality I only fly one on a regular basis but I like the building and fiddling as well.

Ps memo to self, you must have a comprehensive clear out soon!

Nice looking frame ET, you've fully embraced the darkside now :D

I was looking at any alternatives for Fatshark diopters.  I looked at the RHO-Lens inserts last month which were really good, but I've managed to get hold of some slightly cheaper alternatives from CustomFPX, so I'll have a look at those and see how they do.  (always the very best quality review when all I can say it " I like/don't like them" as you can't see them through my eyes)

Today I received another set of cheap motors for a new build. I'd previously bought some DYS 2207 motors for around £7 and they have since been out of stock and now have gone up in price. I saw the Raptor motors which looked the same so thought it was worth a try to see if they were just not the DYS branded version of the same motor.

Anyway they are very similar but the Raptor motors have short wires which was really disappointing as I was planning to put the 2600Kv motors on a light build with a 4-in-1 ESC. I look forward to seeing how these perform as these are my first 2207 motors. But I think I'll go ahead and put the DYS motors on the light build now and the Raptors are going on a Chameleon style build with ESCs on the arms.

One thing to note is the Raptor motors came with two locking nuts whereas the DYS only one. Both use a c-clip on the bottom which I don't like but they are cheap!
