Any chance of an official statement from the BMFA and Ofcom with regards to this?

Think that will get a few people worked up 😄
BMFA have asked Ofcom for a definitive statement regarding control of a UAV by 868 MHz as it effects  the viability of the members insurance and advice it can give on legal operation of UAV. Worth mentioning that just because equipment conforms  to a prescribed standard doesn't mean it is legal to use for any purpose.

The 300 meter between tx and Rx comes from the Ofcom document no the BMFA. (Wayne, why the antithesis towards the BMFA and not the LMA or JMA?)

In this particular case, I'm not having a go at the BMFA, it was just that they seemed to pull a 300m figure out of thin air.  Again, having looked through the Ofcom info on the frequency, I couldn't see that figure anywhere - hence the request for a citation.  I do find it slightly frustrating that not only are the documents easy to understand, but there must be multiple sources of info if there's another one saying 300m somewhere !?

This seams clear to me, crossfire and R9 are classed as Non specifc SRD and as long as they fulfill the technical requirements they should be good to go.

Just some more info for anybody, like me, interested in this area.

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/cymru/spectrum/radio-spectrum-and-the-law/licence-exempt-radio-use/licence-exempt-devices/short-range-devices-information

Quote5.3  The non-specific short-range device category covers all kinds of radio devices, regardless of the application or the purpose, which fulfil the technical conditions as specified for a given frequency band. Typical uses include telemetry, telecommand, alarms, data transmissions in general and other applications.

But then we have

Quote5.11 Model control devices are a specific kind of telecommand and telemetry radio equipment that is used to remotely control the movement of models (principally miniature representations of vehicles) in the air, on land or over or under the water surface.

So which one takes precedence ??  :-\

5.11 in my opinion. If its not listed by Ofcom as a use then it is not legal.  Anyhow lets wait for the official statement from governing bodies. Its all rather academic anyway.  If a SUA is flown out of LOS its outside the law so it really doesn't matter what control system is used.  More relevant is the other users of that waveband causing control issues. In this case its container trackers, goods trackers, remote gate openers, car alarms and remote garage door openers etc etc.

I just like to know which rules I'm breaking  ;D

BigT

You'll find out soon enough if the police get the next tranche of authority promulgated in the consultation. I.E. stop and search suspected SUA pilots, seizing equipment and data without a warrant, entry to premises on suspicion without a warrant, on the spot fine for failing to show registration number on the SUA of between £300 and £1000.

Anyway a note to our moderator, this subject should now be moved to elsewhere, don't you think?

Last week I took receipt of the FuriousFPV True-D module for Fatshark goggles. Updated to 3.8 software (really easy) will be doing a series of tests this week to see how it compares to my previous module which was just the stock module that came with the Attitude v4.

My only concern is that it doesn't fit as flush as I would expect it to (see image below). Considering this cover is supposed to fit the Attitude goggles I would expect this to sit flush with the Fatshark case but there's a bit of a gap. I've tried removing and refitting but I always get the same fit. Does anyone else have this issue?

I was flying my AR wing at the weekend and my eachine pro58 diversity module actually fell out of the dominators  soon after launch.......the fairly crappy 3d printed cover I got from banggood just wasn't a secure fit...

Of course video was straight off and I couldn't hit rtl quick enough before it piled in to the ground !  I thought it was a problem with the plane until Louis my little lad saw the module in the grass and picked it up saying "is this yours".

The weight of the cp and directional antennas is quite a lot and puts a strain on the clips on the cover, although maybe I hadn't clipped it on properly.... ( yet another thing to check).  We've just got a high res  SLA 3d printer at work so I'm printing a (hopefully) better design from thingiverse.   I resorted to a low tech sellotape fix for the rest of the morning... :-)

Coincidence, I had the LaForge module fall out of Dom's last week, luckily I was only flying the Nasty little emax r3    which bounced into the long grass. White insulating tape fixes it.

Haha Mark
You can see it fall off in your video at 1.22. At least it is recorded on video as proof.
Glad the plane only got minor damage.
