Started work on a Zagi flying wing this weekend. It was originally just a LOS model but started a conversion so i can build up some experience before building the Scout Bee.

Anyway here are some pictures:

As you can see, batteries in the wings as per TBS zephr. Decided to cut right through the wing section and make boxes for the LiPos to go in so i can quickly change batteries. Ignore the fact that they dont match, they will do once completed!

Camera mount for the GoPro - Also a TBS copy except made out of 6mm depron.

Specs:

Motor: Turnigy 2826 2200kv swinging a 7x4 APC prop
ESC: Turnigy Plush 40a
Servos: MG90s
Batteries: 2x Turnigy Nano-Tech 1300 3s

PLENTY more work to be done on it yet, will keep the post updated.

Looking good Tim, i like the mount :) Whats happened with the foam behind the motor mount ?
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Thanks Coyote! Do you mean the square area behind the actual motor? If so that is where the prop will be swinging. It's a 7x4 so needs plenty of clearence. Decided to use correx board for the camera mount as I think think the depron will crush under the odd heavy landing :)

Made the cut outs for the vtx and the ezuhf today. On each wingtip of course. Pictures to follow :)

No the bit infront of the motor, it looks like ou can see the floor through it

what did happen to that bit tim? lol

was it the old mount you made? maybe moving the motor from los possition to off set the fpv gear?

you could fill it in though? or does it improve air flow??

As Phibin says that's where the original motor mount was. Had no choice but to use a little brute force to get it out :/

The ESC and current sensor will be sat in that area anyway, so it's not a big issue, but I guess I can fill it if I need to :)

Tim :)

Very nice.  ;D

What wingspan is it?  (Always like to compare the power arrangements on others models so I can relate it to my next design  :) )

Hi Andy,

Wingspan is 48" with approx 390W. Should go alright :)

Thanks! To be honest i didn't think about that, but it is a very good point. I will make sure i take it on board as this model is really only a practice for the Scout Bee.

Got some more progress done this evening on the Zagi. Got pretty much all the wiring/components in but its at that stage where it jsut looks like a big mess! So needless to say the pictures are very flattering!

As you can see, VRX in one side EzUHF on the other, with the EzOSD in the middle. Had to switch to a bog standard HK speed controller as the Plush had timing issue on this motor.

NGhobbies vtx power suply fitted next to the EzOSD. The amount of wires was a bit of a mind blower to start with! Running a shielded USB cable to the wingtip for the vtx

EzUHF on the other wing tip, note to self, "dont put any spars in until last! Wires are a nightmare to negotiate around spars!"

Hope you like :)

Had a quick weigh up this morning and it looks about 1080g ish. It needs tape on top of that. But hopefully it won't add too much weight. I bench tested the motor, i am getting about 1150g of thrust. So i aim to be lighter than that :)

phibin

should be good! :)

think mine is under 1kg...? would take a bit more ballast though i think...
wonder how heavy mine is now with all that crap taped on the top? lol

will have to weigh it.. lol
