FlyingWings Venturi FPV Evo II

The Venturi Evo is coming up to a year old now, and when the Falcon Evo was released earlier this year there were some improvements in the centre section which the Venturi could benefit from, it's time for the Venturi FPV Evo mk II:



The changes are as follows:

Curved front section: Giving better aerodynamics and block foam for easier and more versatile FPV cam / HD Cam mounting options.
Dual spar: One at the rear in the usual place and a half length spar at the front to aide assembly in getting the wings to level during glueing.
Higher battery bay: Accommodates the new array of Multistar type batteries' alternate form factor.
Newer swept elevons: We all cut them this way anyway but they come like it now.
Single height battery bay and equipment bay: Makes assembly and cable routing easier.
Correx skid plate:  Handles landing on rough terrain better.

More to come on this in due course, as you can see she's built already but not maidened and I do have a lot of build photos to cover the finer details, but wanted to get her fully built for the first post. I'm not expecting anything too different for the maiden, all the electronics are from my old Venturi with the exception of the board cam (which was toast) and a new Scorpion motor (more power).

Hopefully I should be able to maiden on the next calm day, maybe Thursday or Friday.

Balance-wise I need to get the maiden out of the way but think that 2X 5200 4S is a realistic option.

Not a chance! I took those photos during the build to see the capacity of the battery bay without knowing what the CG would come up like. Now she's built though 2x 4S 4000's all the way up front just about balances with the motor I'm running and 2x 4S 5200 all the way back in the bay seems to balance.

She should be quite sleek in the air, so it'll be interesting to see how much more efficient this is compared to the original. I've also fully inboarded the servos on this one, only the control rod slips out of the wing to the elevon control horn. I'm hoping to get a fast ride out to 20k and back with ease.

Funny as I was only thinking of adding another wing to my hanger after bending my Zephyr last year.. This looks nice and with 10amp plus on board should give great range..

I'm eagerly awaiting the maiden and flight report  :D

Really you could get 80% of what's changed by rounding off the front of your centre section, removing the front panel and using a block of foam to contain the board cam and GoPro.
