right I need to crack on and choose a motor for my venturi

So- for a decent balance between efficiency and speed- what's everyone running?

Have you got some decent performance from yours coyote? Did the bobbing get sorted?

Mine runs on an older ritewing Z2 motor. Best bet is to research what people use on Z2's as they are a similar size and weight

Ok so this motor looks nice. should be efficient too but it's rated at 1000W so won't be a slouch! I will run a high pitch too so she's fast and cruises at a low current.

however what exactly is a backmount motor? will it bolt on easy as usual? and if not what do I have to buy to convert it? there don't seem to be any additional parts for this specific motor on the website.

Advice would be appreciated!

The alternative is I buy the same scorpion motor Coyote runs but that seems quite power hungry and probably less efficient than the Os3820.

Not sure what it means by back mounted motor

It means the shaft is sticking out the other end.

so will it be easy to mount to the Venturi mount? will I need any extra shafts etc?

I've not flown it since Greg. I'm going to try a further back CG.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I will be maddening mine soon. Scorpion motor on its way. I'm hoping a 9x9 pitch will be efficient.

Scorpion motor sounds nice.

For what it's worth, I'm running a 9x6 prop on my el'cheapo motor. That give 100mph in still air. Depending on your motor kv 9x9 might be a bit much for efficiency. I tend to cruse at about 10 amps and 35mph.

Coyote did you drill a couple of extra holes for the scorpion motor? or just manage with the standard two?

Mines getting flown 4-5 times a week at the moment. Pushing the flights as I gain confidence and picking trips into wind on the out leg as an added safety. Venturi and Vector are doing great. I've been surprised with the range I've managed so far with video on 5.8.  The Ezuhf is the weak link, surprisingly. I keep getting the link quality drop out and the vector starts a return to home as I start to wave the Tx about in an attempt to improve signal, turn back around and get back on my way.

What aerials are you using?

Wish I could get out and fly that much. Flying into wind is definitely the way to do it, saved me once when I have a motor failure, managed to glide back a mile and land at my feet.

Aerials are standard Ezuhf whips on a diversity rx, set in a vertical 90 degree V. Diamond on the Tx (which is the box rather than the module).

Problems come from around 800m. Signal can bounce between 1 and 100%. As I push out beyond a mile it can still drop out and can bounce back more to 40-80%. I tend to flick Tx to high if I'm pushing out. Tx wiggles always get control back, but the vector has dived Ito a return home by then annoyingly.

I have made a home made dipole. Close range testing using the rssi in Ezuhf tools suggested that it was no different in rssi than the standard whips, so I didn't bother fitting it.
