First time flying the Hornet in calm weather, what a great afternoons flying. Had 50 min of dvr footage to go through to try and get it down to a reasonable length :)

Just back from my mini Hornet maiden.  Bit of trim to get level flight was all that was required really - bit of up elevator. Then an hour enjoying the calm weather between 2 - 3pm this afternoon, on a local flying field with a mate.
Perfect escapism!

I didn't try FPV although I had my goggs on standby.  I just flew it LOS to learn its characteristics at low n high speed.  I even plopped in one of my quad 4s 1300mAh lipo's to try -  yeah baby  ;D !

It's not total relaxed flying, but I knew it wouldn't be - very good fun though - keeps you focused and absorbed plus a decent flying time, if you take it easy on the throttle.

I will try and keep it one piece as long as possible.

Gav, does your hornet have the stock 12A ESC that comes with the deal, or did you get the kit only and put your own electronics in?

I'm just wondering if the stock setup will take 4S without releasing the magic smoke... because my hornet only has the super tiny and lightweight Eachine TX02 all-in-one cam/VTX I'm completely unable to get the CG far enough forward.... so I'm considering some larger LiPos (1000mah 3S) perhaps even a 4S LiPo.

Hi matey, I put my own electronics choice in. Bought just the kit and a 3s lipo from the shop.

20A littlebee esc (these work well on racing quads with hi kv motors)
1806 2700kv dys race edition motor.
12V regulator for the cam n vtx

3s great flew lovely and fast enough, 4s watch out as you can turn the plank into instant confetti with a dumb thumb moment at max throttle LoL. I've never done that in the past eh hem.

Good job the hornet is fairly robust...

I've added extra carbon to the top of mine but there are an increasing number of chunks coming out of the le. Watch the video and you'll get an idea why   :D
