What weight are you running these at?

My Falcon AUW is currently 980g. That's with a bit of weight added at the front to balance it.

Tim isn't that the Falcon's big brother, the Venturi Evo? looks nice!

Yes Adam,  I've got 2 Quads and the venturi to maiden rather shortly hence my reply that i maybe posting a similar "fail" vid soon.  She's actually about ready to chuck pending final software tweaks so i'll keep you all posted in the venturi evo topic....
FPV - The unusual hobby of flying £££'s miles away from you in the hope you see it again.

I'm sure it will be great... mine would have been if I wasn't a muppet putting parts on backwards  :-[

A new lesson every time i fly  :P

Yeah its a 2200v with the 6x4, what flying wings label as the 'sport' power system. I'm tempted to buy a 1400v with an 8x4 and its a simple 4 screws to swap between sport and eco  :D I think the motors a pretty cheap too!

I had to add a bit of weight in the battery bay to balance the wing... I think going from the 2.2 to the 4amp battery It will balance perfectly without the weights.

Mine fly's nice and level with one of the 4000mah multistar batteries.
I`ve just replaced my 2200kv motor with one of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__80623__Turnigy_Aerodrive_SK3_2836_1500kv_Brushless_Outrunner_Motor_UK_Warehouse_.html?strSearch=1500kv I get about 20 minutes flight time out of it on a 7x6 prop and its pretty nippy!

Yeah mine should be nice and level with the 4000 too. Switching from the 2200 to the 4000 only increased my AUW by 50g because I had to add a little weight into the battery bay with the 2.2 for COG.

So that motor is getting you 20mins with the 4000? I was looking at this motor for efficient flights:

Also, one final Q  :P what flight time were you getting with the 4000 lipo combined with the 2200kv motor?

Cheers

I picked up the motor I posted the link to based on a friends recommendation. I have it with the shaft end going into the foam (made a hole) and the prop on the bolt on adapter. I don't get any jello at all and the throttle control is nice and smooth. The 2200kv motor I had gave me about 10 minutes of fast flight on one of the cheap hobby king orange motors, that motor gave up the magic smoke and died but what do you expect for £6!

btw what settings do you have in you tornado (pitch and gain)?

On stock settings PA was fine but on RTH when it banked it lost a lot of altitude. I lowered the gains and the angles but haven't had chance to test these settings yet. Think it will require a bit of trial and error to get it right, let me know your settings if you manage to get success :D

I cranked the gains up to 100% as on PA mode it would bob up and down all the time. The only problem I have is in PA mode its very unresponsive to stick inputs.

I`ve seen a few videos of Storm osds heading into the ground on RTH

I`ve never had this problem but it may be worth checking out for you.

AdamG

Thats a buggered storm or its not been configured correctly. Take a look at the pitch and roll values, its on like +25 roll when its level. When it dives for the floor the pitch is on +10 so it thinks its heading up.

I would think increasing the gain on yours might make it worse! try lowering it and see if its any better. No idea when the weather will allow me to fly this again for testing :(

Yup weather is tosh on the south coast as well, its not as if I`ve booked the week off or anything  :(

AdamG

I managed to get a flight in yesterday and test the Tornado briefly. So PA is still working fine.

RTH: On the maiden it banked to hard and was losing altitude very quickly, definitely would have crashed if i hadn't taken over. I lowered the gain and lowered the allowed roll angle. This time it didn't lose altitude, it flew nice and smoothly, but it wasn't turning enough to circle me and slowly started heading away from me. Will revise settings and have another go and let you know the results.

What do you have the altitude set to?

I think around 100m for RTH. Just need to slowly adjust the roll gain and angle until it works i think

Thanks for the info. I took a weeks holiday last week and didn't get a single flight in and this week its been nice and calm out. I`m so glad I have a desk near a window!  >:(

I feel your pain! (?)

After a bit of playing yesterday (in pretty high wind! too high for the Falcon really) I managed to get the Tornado to behave ;D
