Just as a help to people who are starting a mini talon build, post the mini talon warts, this is not knocking the Talon but showing what you have learned from ownership and use.
To start off
Wart, tail skid snaps off after landing, the plane skids around on landing and takes the skid off when it's moving side wards. (Rough grass)
Fix. Shorten height of skid to a quarter and reinforce with glass tape on the skid and surrounding foam.
Skyhunter, Drak, Mini Talon, Z3, Z2 and 250 Vortex. :overexcited:

Yeah I was miffed with that, my Talon looked all beat up after two landings! Nice tip though, I've epoxyd mine in then added some hot glue and polymorph as well. Seems tough but has added more weight than I'd like all the way at the rear

I didn't bother fitting the tail skid at all. I ws intending to fit a nice low profile 3d printed skid, but sort of haven't gotten around to it.

On mine, the ply frame needed a bit of fettling to get it to fit correctly.  Nothing 5 min with a file couldnt sort.

Also, I find the motor mount plate a bit ropey too.  It works, but I think it could have been a bit beefier...

The ply frame for the nose is a bit funky too.  Again, a 3d printed one will be replacing the stock ply one on mine, when I get around to it....
Duct Tape and a Hammer.  A cure for all known mechanical problems.

I actually completely forgot to fit the tail skid. Only realised once the glue had set! I just ran a bead of hot glue over the entire bottom seam including the skid and then ran over it with a scrap piece of foam. Creates a really solid join and gives it a lot of protection. Even after the major beating mine got the rear was still holding strong.

Didn't install the plywood skid as it just acts like an plough,I just put some split tubing over mine,as you can see on my modified tail :-[

Sorry guys, didn't intend to steer the thread in the direction it has gone.
Thanks for all the advice though, I will now make a decision as to what to I want to do.

So, back to discussing this awesome little plane.....

That pesky skid is pretty much the first thing that went on my first 'landing' :+

My tail skid is alive and well after a good few flights  :P   Maybe if you boys learned to land straight......

Aww Jake....it was going so well.....shame about the HD footage too, I bet it would have been spectacular.....
Noticed on my Storm, the home direction pointer is not that accurate and has a slow update....Flying in that terrain takes some focus and bottle m8....
Never mind, I just ordered a MT myself...on offer at BG now £38....You must get another..?

Now that my friend is a proper FPV Total, this is how a airframe should end, up in the mountains, hard climb to recover and no chance of a rebuild, gone in totall FPV glory, hat off to you sir. Better than ending up in the loft cos it's getting scruffy and unloved.
Pity about the runcam though, any good for spares?

No the runcam hit first and was obliterated apart from the card which didn't save the video.

New mini talon is built, just waiting for one servo and were ready for of again.

Using the L9R reciever Jake....?...your rssi looked very healthy even as the Video started to go....Just a little more altitude and you would have been ok......Bugger....

New one looks nice anyway, mine should be here by Friday...:)

I might even have it built by Christmas...lol.

Yes the L9R,video was 5.8 though and as soon as went down the valley my video went completely as you would expect.
I should have climbed and banked but instinctively grabbed rth which was only set at 150m,probably causing it to dive and bank right into the mountain.
Pilot error,lesson learnt.
