Thanks ET,

Running Crossfire LRS so will stick with 2.4 for video.
Looks better in the photo than real life. In spite of lightly sanding the paint hasn't really taken proper hold of the foam and remained tacky for a long time. Had to resort to talc to stop it sticking to everything....

You can always tell an awesome airframe, people spend loads of time making them look ace.

Nice work!

Loopdreams

Thanks man.  Just hope it still looks pretty after the first flight.

The time has come.  Going to chuck this thing into the air at lunchtime and see what happens.

Cheers all.  It was as uneventful as I hoped it would be, had one LOS flight to make sure it would actually fly, a quick go in the goggles and then I quit while I was ahead.  Pretty much flew right out of my hand with no real signs of anything untoward, a slight roll to the left perhaps.  I think I'd gone a bit conservative on the CG, though.  Definitely going to move it back a few mm at a time next time I go out.  I was flying round holding in a good bit of up elevator and it all felt a bit heavy, not really in a bad way but it could definitely stand to be a little more responsive.

Landing seems fine too but fairly quick as others have said.  It was flat calm so I really tried to slow it down as much as possible.  On the first, LOS, flight I kept on feeding in up elevator until there was none left and flew it right to the stall about a foot above the ground but even then it was still fair travelling.  It should be able to fly a tad slower once I move the CG back, though.

Video here of both flights that I had.  It also shows the stabilisation working on the Firefly Q6.  Not sure about it really, at times it works really well and smooths things out but at others it just looks a bit wonky as it crops and zooms around the frames.  I think I'll turn it off next time for a comparison.

Overall it seems like a nice stable sort of a thing this plane.  I like it.

Nudged the battery back a few cm to bring the CG back nearer the servo wires and went flying this morning with a mate.  Made a huge difference, flew right out of my hand and it landed at what seemed like walking speed although there was perhaps a 10 mph breeze today.
