I am still running my original NTM on a 10X5 prop and 4s with no problems.

Motor gets warm only.

I will be replacing the bearings soon but I would class that as routine maintenance.

Look guys, I suspected this negativity regarding the NTM motor and big props on the MT was just collective hysteria.

Just to dispel any concerns about them  .......         ;D

NTM motors are shite though.  I was running some on a quad for a while, you'd sometimes get a good one but mostly they were rattly crap.

Antkol

My NTM motor was seriously overheating too.  Coyote had a similar problem and like him I swapped it out for the recommended sunnysky motor and now it only gets slightly warm.  Seems to give out more power and quieter too.
Looks like you have a lovely flying area. Nice vids BTW.

I have only ever used the Sunnysky motor so I can't comment on the NTM motor, but I ran the Sunnysky motor for over an hour and covered 65KM in one flight and when she landed it was cool, no motor cowl mods just the stock airframe. This airframe does not cook motors in its stock form IMo.
Great vid, and a good day for flying  :D

Same .. I think the motor is fine though it's just specced wrong on the HobbyKing pages

Since I changed to 3s on a 7x5E prop I've had zero problems. Admittedly it's not as powerful as I'd like for climbing, but my MT still picks up some pace and cruises below half throttle.

Thanks guys,

Does anyone have the link to the sunnysky best suited to 4S ?  ( or other good motor with a bit of grunt)

I just looked on banggood but cant quickly see it,  there's lots of links from the talon page for parts but not the motor.

Am just on lunch at work so can't trawl through the thread !

Thanks in advance !

Hi there
This is the link the motor that I am using with a 4S battery.
Hope its ok, but if not it is the SUnnysky x2216 motor that you need.

Thanks Guys for your thoughts on this, and thanks Anktol for that link.

I may give the standard sunnysky a try and enjoy more time in the air !  :D

The only other problem I had is that bloody runcam 2 I had on the roof of the car.  It's faulty and it'll have to go back.

Having reviewed the vid, some kind of lens distortion is making my belly look a bit fat and it doesn't seem to be able to capture finer detail like
hair on my head.  Anybody else experiencing this problem ?

FPVSteve

lol yea I've noticed the newer cameras make me look fatter than the old ones did a few years ago....

Ok Guys & ladies.

Well this was to be the 2nd outing for the Mini talon after Maiden / Motor Burnout Day.   With a change of motor, smaller prop and trim adjustments I was looking forward to a nice flight.... maybe start to push further out.

Launch was fine on the smaller 7x6 prop.  I cocked up a bit as I'd put the FPV camera servo on a  slider on the tx until I had time to sort out the head tracker on the ezuhf JR  that seemed to be playing up.  I must have knocked it at launch and was a bit confused at first as the plane seemed to have a bit of a sidewards track....  I eventually twigged it was the cam off centre.

All seemed ok generally but then RTL on the FY41AP kicked in at only around 200m, then it switched to auto circle.   Nearly ended up in some trees,  hit RTL manually, plane headed back and went into ACM again overhead.

I  obviously hadn't set the rtl speed high enough as it was losing height as it circled.  In the centre of a big field it wasn't a problem, it was descending slowly  so  I let it land.

Testing the EZUHF module when it landed,  RTL was cutting in when I'd walked a couple of hundred meters away, less when the tx was shielded by my body.

There didn't seem a problem last time I flew so I don't know what's changed.  I swapped a spare antenna on the tx.... same problem.

I had accidentally used the EZUHF JR module a month or two ago without an antenna on for a couple of minutes by mistake, I'm wondering whether I damaged the module.  I have used it since with no apparent trouble.

I'll try another Rx and see if I can eliminate the problem.

Anyway, the plane is back absolutely undamaged so I'm happy,  Just a bit cheesed off that once again I'm having to faff about on an evening trying to sort out probs like this.  grrrr

That plane is great though....    this could be the all rounder that I've been wanting for ages.     :-)

Spoke too soon.

NTM has now failed in flight. Managed to land without damage and not too far away.

The Sunnysky 1250KV is on it's way from Banggood.

With the motor burning out the large current it would have pulled while failing could have done much more damage to other equipment thanks to going through the current sensor. Mine did.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)
