Fleetwood Town!

Although I don't care about football at all.  Although a colleague's distress over Blackpool's continuing woes has been a constant source of amusement.

Yes,great time to be "a Nobber" too  ;)

Now,back to MT`s. :)

Right, I had that less than satisfactory 11hr Mini talon canopy print that came out too small.   It turns out to be a simple problem......  the bed of my Turnigy fabrikator printer is just isn't quite big enough.  I think it just decided to shrink it a little to fit without letting me know.

Anyway, I came  up with the the bright idea of splitting the thingiverse  file into two parts, printing them seperately then gluing them together.  I split into a large part and a small part.  40 mins to print the small section,   10hrs+ to do the larger .

Large part has printed fine,  smaller part, for some reason has ended up smaller  WTF !   :D

Anyway I'm reprinting the small bit, I think I'll get it to come right in the end.  Thank god it was the small bit that's wrong.  I've developed bed sores from sitting here staring at the thing printing.    ;D

A photo of my misfortune attached for your amusement.  :)

Just started putting this thing together and I have to say that it's a lovely bit of kit.  Special mention ought to go to whoever came up with the wing joining method.  The two little allen bolts that presumably tighten clamps around the spar, secure and with no fiddly screws to lose.  Genius.

Andy Sayle

The wing retaining is good.  It even "gives" a little when you land a bit on the fast side, and slide straight into a clump of immovable grass.  Just the ticket.

I had a flight with mine last night, in winds that were around 20mph on the ground, and I'd estimate around 35mph at altitude (I'll admit, I went a bit high).  I did an entire 40 minute flight, pointing the same direction into wind, with the exception of two circuits for landing.  Odd, but strangely satisfying!

Duct Tape and a Hammer.  A cure for all known mechanical problems.

Shikra

Only thing that annoys we about the talon is I keep breaking the rear bit which protects prop on landing. Tempted to remove it and add a 3d protector
Still flying up my own arse ....
And giving Bignose one up his..
Moister than an Oyster...........

Loopdreams

Good to know, I'll fibreglass it before putting it on.

Loopdreams

That said I'm not sure the props really need protecting on landing.  I've never snapped one landing a wing, they just rotate out of the way as soon as they hit the ground if they're pointing down.  But I suppose it might also have an aerodynamic effect of giving more fin area.

Had a little play tonight and pushed my PB a bit, total flight times and distance are being pushed but have still loads to come. The joy of living in the wilds with no one around  ;)

Cheers Steve, still think there's loads more to come. Was thinking of getting another MT and implementing all lessons I've learnt for a more efficient airframe but she just did 40 miles so how much do I really want lol. Got to keep trying though  ;)

I think you need to break the 50 mile mark.  :flying: :dancing2:
Nice flight!

Well the MT is just about finished.  Just a few finishing off bits and it should be ready to go.

This was intended to be the spare for when the other one got knackered but that's layed up waiting for a MFD AP fix and its maiden so the spare has become the main plane.

This has got an FY41Ap in which I've always been happy with.

I have got the dreaded NTM motor in this so we'll see what happens....  ( that reminds me, I still have to print out an air scoops for the motor    :D )

I've got a 4S 8AH batt in.  Cam is the runcam I had on the now dead Z3, with a mobius alongside using a lens extension lead to make it all fit a little easier.

All up weight is  1.78kg

Will keep you updated on its maiden.

A scoops not going to help windings burning up if you are on the larger prop.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

My NTM motor is performing really well on a 7x5 but it got really, really (really) hot on an 8x5 ... would anyone be interested in an efficiency result on 5000mAh 3s? AUW is 1.72kg
