Where was it I saw someone warning about gluing the ply frame together too tight?!  Guess what I've done :(

I checked my fit last night, I've already glued the ply frame together and stuck it to one piece of the fuse ready for when I put the two halves together.  I checked last night and when I put the halves together its not sitting flush with the back of the other half  >:(  Not sure what to do now, use loads of epoxy and hope its enough to fill the gap?!

I did the same.

Ended up using Gorilla glue. This filled the small gap and it worked great.

Just make sure you try the upper hatch while the glue is drying as it can be a very tight fit.

The best crasher ever! I've had lots of practice.

Mine all went together perfectly  :P   I put the fuse halves together first, got it all lined up and then added the tray(my 3d printed one). I put it on with POR and it's as solid as solid gets  :D   My hatch only got tight after tightening the wings, I had to loosen them and ease them back half a mm each.
As long as you fill the gap it will all be good and strong anyway,I think it's fairly important as it strengthens the whole thing considerably.

I did think about Gorilla glue.  My only concern with that is if it expands too much the strength of the bond is greatly reduced.

could you bridge the gap with a lollypop stick maybe? I doubt it's the end of the world

That's a good idea, I thought about adding some ply but at 3mm I think would have been too thick

Having still to buy anything to fit mine out - can I have any opinions on the 1200kv vs the 1400kv NTM motors.  I guess you want to spin a bigger prop on the 1200

jt

Probably not much difference from looking at Blue's time and current consumption. I can keep the current down very low 3.5A or so if flying really slowly (25-30mph), otherwise it's around 5A flying around 45mph. Mine pulls 30A or so WOT at 75mph(120kph) or there abouts(groundspeed in still conditions, not got airspeed on it). I reckon you could easily do an hour on a 8000mAh multistar if flying for efficiency  ;D

Easy test for that jt.

Take off and put rth on.
Then watch it go round in a circle for an hour or more.

Then land lol.

I could try and follow it with my mini sky hunter for a bit lol.

jt

If using a pixhawk with telemetry modules, you could put a phone in the lead plane(that you control) and use the 'follow me' feature, that would be cool  :D

but I've only got one transmitter bound to both planes :(

Try flying both on the one transmitter.

That would be interesting, and make a good vid at the same time :D

All ready for maiden, if the wind drops later today I will nip down the field for a cheeky los maiden and a FPV after that if all goes well  :overexcited:
