what scales do you use to weigh something this heavy with any accuracy? I have an accurate scale that goes up to about 400g, and then the ones I use to weigh my fat arse, but those aren't particularly accurate at the small details.

These are the ones' my wife has for cooking and they are perfect for weighing my models..

for my bigger models I put something like a paint tin or up turned beer glass on first to lift the model up so I can see the display then press the 'zero' button, then put the plane on.

Went down to Wilko`s ( well Donna did ) but they only had ones that went up to 2.5kg

Just looked in the cupboard and there are some cooking scales that go up to 5kg... Perfect!

Ok got some scales, 5kg max ( turns out Wilko`s did have some afterall )

With Gopro and 1x 5000mah 4S on boart, ready to fly weight is 3.325 kg Not really as bad as I thought

My threads lacking substance, so here is some :)

I mentioned in the video having the rear of the Gopro case pull out so I can have access, I had cut the size piece I needed, but had`nt added the ply, its a simple solution, ply glued into removable piece, slot in fuse for it to locate in



Works pretty well, the friction holds it tightly enough so that`s one job done :)

Next up was the UHF antenna, I wanted it to the rear, so put it just to the right and back, I used a spare push rod tube to support the antenna and heat shrinked in red tubing to match the red side of the plane :)



On of the most important parts are the linkages, this time round I did`nt want to use metal clevis`s, if you need to adjust them they really should be replaced, so I opted to go back to my heli roots and used 2mm threaded bar with ball links



I then moved my attention to the hatch, I fitted the 5.8ghz Vtx, but also cut out the space for a 2.4ghz Vtx too in case I wanted to swap at any point



Underneath, the power wire was taken to a JST connector for easy but reliable connection, the video and audio to RCA leads, simply hot glued for pull protection



I adopted three parts to secure the canopy that does not like staying on the plane while flying. The first stage was dump the crap magnets and replace with velcro, the second below was a piece of modern, cutting edge technology.............


No it was`nt................. I glued a stick in it :)



It just simply sits under the front lip so that wont lift, then two catches on the rear ( not bought or fitted yet ) should mean it stays on no problem at all :) ...................... Never say never though ;)

With that done the exterior is looking not too bad, simple, clean but good



I forgot to mention I went for simple but effective on the Elevon hinges, M3 tape



Even though fitted here, the Turnigy might not make the maiden, I think I`m going to go with the Power Up 32 800 watts instead, but we will see
