It'll slightly increase the cost (more cm3 of material) but you'll lose a bit of cost from having the open end at the bottom anyway.

I can add it pretty easily if you want it.

The price isn't cheap fir the module though - not my fault, blame shapeways. It'll be around £40 I imagine.

Ok cool, just thinking mate. Would somit like this work? I think this design will use less plastic too.

Use a claw type cradle with a open back & x2 arms that will replace the chrome tx carry handle on the futaba & a tiny tongue on the bottom that will slip inside a slot I'll cut into my module to secure the low edge.

This way it'll allow for a 90° adaptor to be used on the EZUHF (I have a few spare if you need one) & it'll solve the exposed ppm plug issue, as it'll be angled back toward the rear of the futaba, as per my gaffer tape version.

Please excuse my crude scribbles....

Not drawn to scale, upper arms will need to be lowered & angled I think.

Hmm... you don't really need that slot at the bottom - could just be done using a locking tab a bit like the module uses.

It's possible to do like this, but it's a complete re-design of course. The one disadvantage is that it means the EzUHF is right on the back of the transmitter and you do hear some beeps from the radio complaining about the rf.

If you want to fit it like this, it would be easier and cheaper to do it like I did using an empty module case:

I ordered a cheap futaba style module from hobby king and proceeded to gut it... I took the case and the connector, then set about figuring out which wires to connect to what. I then went a bit bodge it and came up with a simple way to secure the connector (yeah it ain't pretty but it's functional! note the epoxy over the top to secure the thin wires.)




module put back together and stuck to the EZUHF using double sided foam tape...





and module fitted to radio...

Yeah, guess its a bit of a pain to redesign the thing.

I did the module connection & mount thing with some double sided sticky foam to the rear of the Futaba, but how I've taped it it's just a nicer angle with the 90° adaptor on, as the flush mount the antenna is bit too vertical. I end up picking myself in the nose with my diamond antenna lol.

I must say I've not had any glitches or beeps with mine that close...
