Upgrade the standard battery pack for a 2S 2600 is a very good move

3S 2600 is an even better move IMO... More watt hours and fits great. Also good if you are intending to use an EzUHF (though I guess the new module and the 2W are 2W compatible too when they finally come out).

This is from my other thread but I thought it would be of general interest here too

Got home to find the speakers I had ordered for the taranis arrived... forgot about those!

quick mod to do and WOW, massive improvement. She now sounds almost as smooth as my Jeti and even at half volume she's loud enough to be heard....

So here are the two speakers, stock on the right. The replacement is a much bigger speaker!




I printed up a little adaptor to mount the new speaker, from start of design to sitting on my print bed complete was about 15 minutes - not bad going lol.




Here you can see the stock speaker mount next to the oversized new speaker - hence why this adaptor was useful




Adaptor installed and secured with a little CA




And final install complete




I've been reading that some foam over the back improves the sound further, so when I find some suitable foam I'll put some in there too but for now I'm chuffed - huge improvement.

Looks good, the only thing that`s put me off trying this is many reports of the board failing with speaker upgrades

Shouldn't do - it's the same ohm and power rating as the stock speaker so can't fathom why, but we'll see I guess... I wouldn't be surprised if the failures came from mis-matched speakers.

Bit of a silly question this, but cant find an answer...

Does the Taranis actually come with built in telemetry or do you need an add on module for it to work with the X8R telemetry enabled  rx ?

The Telemetry is in the Taranis already, as long as you use a FRSky receiver that has telemetry ( not just the X8R ) then it will work fine

This is a video I just made btw - sounds a bit echoey but that's just the video, if you compare to my other taranis video the difference is clear!

That is like black compared to white! The standard speaker is a joke, it sounds like someone with a sock full of freeze-dried peas in their mouth :D
