They are both transmitters (but not so good if you're using telemetry) so it doesn't really matter and I'd assume it shuts off the internal TX if you're using a module.

I believe you can program it to use the main output and the module as well for output, to get 16 channels. Sure I read that somewhere.

Would the fancy interference technology overcome any problems, apart from the transmitting aerials being cm's apart.  Wouldn't they swamp each other?  I'm not technically minded so have no idea.

You can decide on each model, which modules you want to use.
If you add another 16ch Frsky module you can transmit up to 32 (!) individual channels.

 ;DGot mine yesterday lunch time ;D took until about midnight to figure out a basic program for AETR, flaps and pan and tilt :-[, flew with it this morning :D






I've still a lot of learning to do- how to connect the sbus decoder and assign it's channels- how to program in scaled elevator trim with the flaps.- how to get different mixes in the different positions of the numerous 3 - way switches etc. etc.
My initial impression is that I like this bit of kit, and it hasn't been too daunting a task to figure out opentx enough to be able to fly with it - and there's a lot to play with in the future!!!

So......after living with a Taranis for 3 or 4 days, I'm starting to  like this transmitter a lot.  ;D  It hasn't taken long for me to get a handle on the programing - it's a lot easier, more flexible and more logical than I'm used to with the 9X!!

I've got a Frsky Sbus decoder to give me another 4 channels, but I can't see how to assign the outputs to the required channels, I've read on another forum that a Frsky Sbus channel changer is required to set this up. does anyone out there with experience of using Sbus, know if this is the case?

I don't know about pronounciation of FrSky, and I don't know about Free Sky- but it's b----y good value for what you get in the Sky!
I'm starting to really like this transmitter.
On a more serious note, I can see some merit in a fully programable, talking transmitter - I think I'll have to program it to read out an FPV pre-fligt check-list - so I don't forget to set the ground station DVR to record, or set the home position etc. etc.!!!
