I am using the turnigy motors. I will see what they are like and if they're no good I will order the rcx motors. Is there much difference?

Well, you are not supposed to run the Turnigy motors off a 3 cell.  What I found with them - and I stress this could just me being unlucky - was they'd work pretty well at the start, and then then things would go downhill.  Out of the ones I was running 2 of them didn't seem able to hold a higher throttle without the RPM varying - quite rapidly.  This led to big wobbles that I couldn't tune out.

The 1811-2900s I had on my first mini seemed to fair a bit better but I still had some unexplained issues.  I think it comes from a vey weak connection on the windings.  You can literally breathe on it wrong, and that the motor done.

Of course I've only run these RCX's for about 5 minutes, so it's unfair to pass judgement prematurely

It states on the HK website you can run them on 3s.

Ouch kinda regret buying them now. :-(

I will give it a few weeks then maybe order the rcx ones

Please keep us updated mate

Says max voltage 7v on this page http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__43485__Turnigy_1811_Brushless_Indoor_Motor_3800kv_UK_Warehouse_.html ?

Like I said, my experience with them doesn't mean they are all crap... also nothing is an exact science in this game.  I tried them out, they seemed ok - but went a bit crap, so I move on to something else.  There's a lot of trial and error in this sort of stuff - when we started messing with it there wasn't much choice.  Now the 250 sized quad seemed to have exploded and there's a lot more motors to choose from.

Sommie1974

Ye that's true mate. Mini quads are Defo the in thing the now.

I went for these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8140__Turnigy_2211_Brushless_Indoor_Motor_2300kv.html?strSearch=Turnigy%202300

They are different motors from the ones you have curry

CurryKitten

Ah different motors, nice - well ignore everything and carry on then.  Once you mess around with them for a while post a report back so we can see if you'd recommend them or not to others :)

krikey

Always good to get data on these small motors.

Sommie1974

Anyone think this quad could lift a gopro 3?

krikey

If CurryKitten is lifting a 2200 LiPo at around 60% throttle, I'd say so :)
