Ordered one.  ;D

Are the 3 free frames offered? :P

krikey

There are currently 2 free frames available so if you get a K-Quad fully built (motors and all) and post some piccies up on here and optionally a flight video, I can send out one free frame per winner.

Hey Guys,

Had a power failure on mine which caused a flip and killed one motor.

Luckily i allready ordered some different motors to try:

Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 2122-2100kv

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=36817

HQ Props 5x3

Battery 1500 mah 3s

She hovers at 40% throttle with the 1500 mah 3s battery

Just out of curiosity i installed a 3700 mah 3s battery and she hovers at 50%.

I'll probably be running a 2200 mah 3s for most of the time.

might try a 2s battery later on 6x3 props.

Paul

Hey Paul,
Any idea what sort of current you're pulling? I'm seeing a max of 11.8A (3S 1000mAh) in free flight and it doesn't have a lot of snap vertically with the little 1811/2000Kv motors, I'm suspicious that the weedy thin wire is the limiting factor......? Like the orange and black colour scheme by the way...
Andrew

Hey Andrew,

I would guess its near the 7amp motor limit, not 100% sure though.

Ive been modding mine and she flies so much better with the battery ontop.

I cut the top tray in half and cable tied a small piece of plywood across the two sections,
then put some velcro on the plywood.

So much smoother than before on the same settings.

This also allows any size battery you want to use, within reason  :D

Heres a couple of pictures one with and one without battery.

Ive also cut and drilled another shelf to go underneath and hide all the wires, havent installed it yet though.

Hey Neil,
I assume PaulUK qualifies for a free frame set? As he's posted finished pics and a flight report......

Paul,
Interesting idea, you do see pics of a lot of the bigger hexa's with 2 or more batteries on the top deck, kinda defies logic where you'd think top heavy would be bad. Are those motors you've used available with pong shafts? So you could use a prop driver..... Maybe have to peruse HK's motor range later.... Are you going to FPV your K-Quad? Or fly it LOS?

Yesterday lunchtime I machined myself a camera mount from a scrap bit of acetal that's been sitting on my desk waiting for just such a use. VTX fitted on the back with velcro and a safety strap, next is to shorten the camera cable and find somewhere neat to stick the input filter board and do the power cables.

Yep you're right. PaulUk. Send me the details for your free K-Quad frame and I'll get it underway.

Only one free K-Quad to go :)

That camera mount looks pretty neat.

I will be using it for FPV eventually, next im going to strap the mobius to it and try and get some vibration free footage, using some sorbothane underneath it should do the trick.

The motors im using are great apart from theres only one way to secure the props with the old style adapters,
they seem to work pretty good though.

For anyone struggling to work out how to put one together, here's an exploded diagram that might help. It also shows all the parts you get in the kit.

Thats a great way of showing how to assemble the frame.

Cant wait for the weather to get better going to do a lot of flying with this frame.

What kind of range are you guys getting with the 600 mw video tx,just curious?.

I have a 250mw on another rig which gives a good signal at 500 metres,
havent taken it further as im only using a cheap orange reciever on that one.

krikey

In theory 600mW will get you up to 4km with the correct antennas as some people have proved. Bignose13 on this forum does some great antennas for 5.8ghz, 2.4ghz etc, however I would suspect that your quad won't get that far before running out of juice first :)
