I flipped the motor around so it's inwards as the CG was aft with the motor outwards. That's with 2x3300 4s packs.

I reckon I must have been a bit liberal with the paint - certainly my elevons are a little heavier than stock. Mine seems to be about 100g heavier than the standard so some weight has ended up somewhere  :)

When I get a gopro for the front I should be able to flip the motor back round. For now I might just flip it back and use some lead in the front.

Yeah I'd just add the ballast. Having the motor hanging out the back is worth the small weight penalty. She won't mind... honest!

With the motor mounted on the rearward side of the mount and with trailing edge stock elevons mine balances up just right with 2X 3300 4S nanos in the middle of the battery bay. I've also got my servos mounted a little farther forward like yours appear.

I do just have an SK3 motor though so not a huge weight. I think my CG is at 190mm back from the wing leading edge.

Given how much material you had to cut off the wing guide cheeks it might be that your box section is a bit farther forward than mine, the spar hole is cut separately to the wing itself in a separate process. It makes to real difference to performance so long as you can get the beast balanced up.

Wouldn't it mean that the wings are further forward on the box, so the box is further back? That would explain why I've had to put the batteries right the way forward to balance.

Sorry, yes. I meant to say the wings are farther forward on the box section. This means that you need more weight farther forward in relation to mine.

OK, gotcha. If the wind is any better when I'm home from work then I'll try another flight. Just got a 11x5.5 to try also, so I'll see what's most efficient. This thing seems to have a pretty good cruise speed which is quite important for me - one of the main reasons I don't bother with slow flying bixler type things for FPV.

Just been flying it at my favourite flying site, 10 min walk up the hill from my house:









I wasn't expecting to fly today as on the way home from work it was still blowing a bloody gale outside, but after dinner it had miraculously all but gone. Got everything charged and went up the hill and flew for about 25 mins. The packs are down to 15.4V after this time.

I didn't get much chance to judge the flying characteristics yesterday as it was so bumpy that I had to keep the speed up for fear of stalling due to wind shear. This time it was much more enjoyable and it flew brilliantly. I stuck in 50g of nose weight to be sure, but it seemed a bit nose heavy so I removed it and it flew better. I remembered to put the stickers on so this probably is why it flies so well :)

It does feel quite heavy in the air, but it's really stable and it can be happily thrown about just like my little Bonsai wing. It has a good turn of speed also, not quite as fast as some of the ones here but that's not what I'm after. The efficiency is quite impressive. As a point of reference, this motor was originally used in my first Fun Cub which ran on 3S with a 13x6.5 prop. It cruised at about 1/3 throttle at about 20mph and weighed 1.3kg. This weighs 2.1kg, has the same motor on 4s with a 10x7. Cruising at 1/3 throttle, this thing flies at about 40mph, which is pretty good going.

Will still be week after next before I'm doing FPV, but I'm looking forward to it. This thing flies brilliantly and the kit is great quality.

I actually would Jake but I don't have time right now.

Just flown again, seems my ESC is buggered. I flew up to a speck and went down vertically with the throttle closed and prop windmilling, it was windmilling at such high rpm that it seems to have buggered the ESC. Oh well, scope time...
