I like the look of it.. now wondering about a Falcon version.. Maybe...

http://www.fpvhub.com/index.php/topic,22361.msg177457.html#msg177457

but with a smaller centre bay more in proportion with the Venturi one!

Not sure Andy, IMO the Falcon's about keeping it light and nimble, personally I'd never put an AP on a Falcon and that's coming from someone who lost one!

Well it takes all sorts. :+. I am quite keen to have a go at it though. I have got used to having my APM2 on My Falcon I must say. but Quite fancy a Falcon with a nose! And After the artwork I see on that , it's about time I at least tried to make a plane that doesnt look like sh*t

Anyway congrats to Rob.That Venturi Looks like a really useful FPV machine!

Glad you got it in the air easily, looks like it has a lot of potential!

I just never got on with the Falcon really, it was far too fidgety and twitchy for my liking so thats why I added the center section. I think I had too big expectations for such a small wing though, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh on it.

I agree with skyscraper that my center section probably is a bit too wide, but it makes a massive difference to the stability of the plane. The more I fly it the more I am enjoying it at the moment!

Now that I've done a first version I'm tempted to do it again properly like you say. This was mainly a bit of a bodge as a trial but now that I know it works a neater and intentionally built one is in order I think! I see the Falcon FPV has went up in price since I bought it though, I'm sure I only paid £35.

Hi mate.

Think the Sport is £35.  FPV is more and has a little nose I see !

I didnt mean your planes look like shit. The Zephalcon is pretty cool.. I meant mine tend to

Ha ha, I didn't think thats what you meant, even if you did I would tend to agree anyway! Function over form! :P

Yeah I saw that, mine was definitely the FPV version as it has the plywood camera mount in the nose, but maybe I just remember how much I told the wife it was! :P

Still great value either way for what they are though! Its good to see that a UK based small company can make good quality products and keep the price point so low.

That's the great thing about this stuff - you buy the kit and you build / adapt to meet your needs and style. For me the Falcon is about flying close range with mates darting between bushes and under goalposts ( sometimes into them  ;) ), John at FatFlyer has put a Vector on his Falcon and I think is well happy with it.

As well as having a bigger surface area, Venturi wings have much more upper camber and therefore much better lifting capability and stability, the Falcon is quite a skinny wing. Having flown the Venturi and a Ninja which is the same surface area as the Venturi but with less camber I can definitely feel a difference in stability, especially at lower speeds. I'll definitely be refitting my Ninja over the winter to give Brucey a run for his money at Mad Dogs.  ;)

Watching your flight the first thing I notice is the yaw wobble. Having one wing already I find this very off-putting flying FPV. Would it not be a good idea to have another couple of fins either side of the centre section lot the chimera pro?

Concerning wobble, it was mainly on launch with low airspeed, it was the maiden as well

May try another wingtip design, see what happens

Or the wing fence's we spoke about rob?

My Z3 had them and still wobbled a little. I think the wing was on the edge of being tail heavy and I'm adding weight to the nose (in the form of an HD camera) then we can see what wobble still exists then.

I do think an option of some correx fences is a good idea though Rob, they could follow the contour of the wing 50% along and have tabs people cut cut into the wing and glue to secure them.

Lets try it out, mind you maybe after the snow storm

I will cut some out and we can lash em on.

We'll try out my £75 nose weight first.

Looking forward to the release of the Venturi! Was about to press the Go button on a Zephyr II, but will hold off for this :)
