Maiden completed! Flew well, so much power it's unreal! Was really twitchy so had to dial the rates down quite a bit, and also the storm OSD needs tuning down as RTH and pilot assist were all over the place! Think my physical throws are a bit much so may move on the control horns.

Also need to change board cam as the picture was terrible! But overall happy for a maiden, came down nice and smooth for both landings! Should get a good few flights in tomorrow!

Decided to sell this, had another flight today and its not for me I don't think! Flies absolutely fine, I just think I want to stick more with a skywalker style layout. Its in the classifieds section if anyone is interested, RTF, just add Rx and Vtx!

I'm new to the venturi club too- maidening mine this weekend with a bit of luck. 

If it's a build thread pop it in the members hangers i reckon.

The only bit of advice i can give,  having bought mine pre built from a member on here- the build is very professional but the elevons are made from very thin balsa with poor torsional rigidity which is the only thing that let's it down. I reckon they would flex pretty easy at speed so I'm upgrading mine to to normal elevons- the prism/Toblerone shape rather than flat thin balsa.

I intend to do the same with mine at some point, I've bought some 50mm x 9mm triangular stock which I'll trim down to 6mm on the table saw. I'll post something up when I do it, it's just a bit of work which will render my Vent out of action, and I'm flying it too much at the moment.

Once they are laminated they are ok. Mine have been good to 100mph on the vent and I used the same material for the 150mph skyfun.
But saying that it will be interesting to see if ipeel notices any difference.

OK, I decided to have a go at the elevons, not really as I was having any issues with the ones I had but because, well, I fancied a tinker.

I took the 50mm x 9.5mm trailing edge stock I had and trimmed it on the table saw down to 6mm and added a 35 degree cut to give better down elevator freedom at the joint with the wing:



I then used the existing elevons to get a rough shape then added an extra cut from 20mm back on the inside edge to around half way along the elevon width:



After a spray, laminate and reattaching they look pretty good:



yeah yeah, I know my workshop needs tidying. The thickness is about twice that of the normal elevons and is about the same thickness as the back of the wing:




The weather's crap today, I'll either give them a fly tomorrow or when Brucey and Foamster come over on Sunday.

what motor combinations are people using and what power figures are they getting?

currently i've maidened mine with a 35/36 1450kv motor on 4s with a 9x6 folding apc that's doing 72amps and 1100w on the watt meter.  this is way more than the motor is spec'd for so i'm planning on propping it down but am curious to know what figures others are running and still maintaining ballistic performance....

On an APC 9x6 prop with an SK3 1250kv I pull 55a on a 4S and get about 130Km/h.

I'm pretty happy with the endurance too, I'd say tops around 15Km out and back with change.

Yeah ditch the folder, no point unless your gliding around. Normal prop is more efficient and I'm yet to break a prop.... well from a normal landing anyway!

Just got one of these. I'll be running it 4s on this motor: http://brchobbies.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=103_49&products_id=2239 because I have one already. I'll be using a 10x7 prop. I'm not so bothered about getting a lot of speed, all I really care about is good efficiency and decent cruise speed.

I'm wondering if I should get 2200 or 3300 batteries, of course two packs paralleled. Is there any noticeable difference in the flying characteristics with these batteries? It seems people get plenty of endurance with the 3300s and it seems to fly very nicely, so I might just go with those unless anyone has any objections?

I'll be using an EzOSD with my trusty WDR700, Chainlink Dare (don't laugh, it works) and homemade 2.4 video gear. Should arrive next week and I'm slowly piecing together the bits, so should be done in a couple weeks.
