Following a recommendation on one of vortecks youtube vids, I ordered myself a tbeacon from tbeacon.org,
What a great little gadget! Not the cheapest in terms of lost model devices, but combines a lot of functionality in a small package, taking your GPS from the flight controller and transmitting the last known location over UHF to a handheld walkie talkie such as this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007HH6RR4/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which is a steal at £17.50 at the moment.
The tbeacon worked out at about £48 posted from Russia and arrived in 9 days.

Not been on here in ages but it's good to see this thread still going strong!

These came yesterday but I realised they're 5s and not 4s  :wallbash:

Nice! Interested to see how you get on with it and mounting it on a pan etc.

This arrived for me -

....I feel dirty...

Initial impressions are good, it has a nice solid feel, and the controller is nice and weighty. Was expecting it to feel plasticky but so far I'm impressed. Just charging at my desk then will attempt to get it set up when I get home. Annoyingly the charging hub only charges one battery at a time, despite allowing 4 to be connected. I guess it saves you changing them over but I thought it charged them in parallel.

Looking forward to hearing about your Mavic flying Ewan.  I hope you'll tell us if you manage to "take it anywhere/everywhere" and it works for that sort of situation.  I've already given the family the "I won't take up as much space on holidays and it's less setup time" but that doesn't quite get me to £1200 :)

Over in the CurryKitten review towers, the DHL man turned up with some goodies

I'm very excited about trying the Lizard 95 - this is a review machine from Banggood.  What seems significant about this over the Aurora is that it ships with a 3s 550 (it also uses xt30 connectors which screws up me using other lipos - I'll need some more stat)

The other boxes... bit more of a story there.  I've steered away from reviewing the toy-grade stuff... and if you are thinking "oooh, poor you, people want to send free stuff and you tell them no"  It's just because I don't have the time to make videos featuring these without getting behind on my other things (of which I'm behind as per usual)

Anyway, the reason I have these is because RCmoment (that sent that god-awful Lanchi Monster 76mm) contacted me again (!) and asked if I would review one of these... and as my daughter, Sophie, is on her summer holidays at the moment, I thought it might be a fun project for us to do together (and she has more chance of controlling one via a phone)  So the one for review arrived yesterday, and then another one unexpectedly arrived today as well.  So if they actually work we'll try an inside-the-house formation flight

Wayne, you know you can get a Mavic for under £900 these days right?

CurryKitten

I was quoting price as the fly more package.  But that's UK stockists, is it ? Cheaper from China, but it reeks of high risk :)
