Bardney Flyers Model Club 2nd FPV Meet

Well here we go again guys. Bardney Club has asked me to organise another FPV meet at their flying site.
I guess we must have made an impression last year even though it was blowing a gale and only one idiot managed to fly his Easystar and get some footage, although way to windy for goggles.
Gordon (G.Collins) flew virtually all day with a tiny Parkzone Sukoi so it wasn't totally unflyable on the Saturday. Sunday was a different matter though and blowing even harder and so we headed home without even rigging the models.

Anyway I digress.

Last night I e-mailed their club secretary to provisionally request the weekend of the 28th and 29th of April for the 2nd Official FPVUK Meet. I await a reply from him before I go any further.

The guys that turned up last year, I am sure, will echo my thoughts in that it was a good opportunity to integrate with a BMFA affiliated club and the day went very well, despite the wind.

I have also clarified that for the purpose of the meet that FPVUK insurance will be accepted. Therefore if you are planning on attending then you must have either FPVUK or BMFA insurance.
There was a lot of debate about this last year so I hope that clarifies the matter straight away.

Anyway there we have it as it is so far. Let me know your thoughts and any ideas to make the day(s) interesting.

Camping - is there any available for the Saturday night?
Requirements - I take it everyone will need to bring insurance certificates?
Free Reign - what I mean by this is, is the "event" going to be time slotted so that we can only fly within time windows?

There are a few campsites within a short distance of the airfield as well as a lot of very good B&B's I know where i'll be staying even though I only live 45 minutes from there.
Last year we didn't get asked for insurance and were treated as guests at the club but I personnally would take your insurance certificate with you whether it be FPVUK or BMFA just to be on the safe side.
As for time slots I think that would depend on the amount of people that turn up. Last year I think we said 1 hour of LOS and then 1 hour of FPV. However Bardney guys are very flexible and I dare say as it's an FPV event we will get treated very well. The only thing stopping "Free Reign" would be peoples frequencies clashing on either radio or Vtx. Again something to work out closer to the time.

A quick update guys.

After the Bardney Flyers Committee meeting on Sunday last, They have now agreed to my proposed dates of 28th and 29th of April for the 2nd Official FPVUK Meet.
It will pretty much take the same form as last year, but for those that are new to the forum i'll just make a few important points.

1. There is plenty of accommodation available within easy reach of Bardney Airfield including B&B's as well as camp sites. I can recommend a few if anyone wants to go down that route. I'm not telling yet where I'll be staying as it only has a few rooms at a good price as well. :-X.

2. As I said in the initial post, Bardney Flyers do insist on insurance of some form. Whether it be BMFA, SAA or indeed FPVUK. This is only sensible as they have a great flying site and do not want to Jeopardise that to any misfortune.

3. Only legal Vtx frequencies will be allowed i.e. 5.8Ghz and 2.4Ghz  ;)

4. Flying on 35 Mhz will be controlled through a peg board system and quite possibly a transmitter controller. They often use this option during larger flying meets to save any mishaps.

I'm sure there will be other questions I have ommitted but please feel free to ask here and if I cannot answer then I will contact BFMC and get an answer.

A quick update guys.
The Bardney Flyers Model club have now officially announced the FPV Meet in their yearly calendar of events.

If anyone has any questions before committing to attend please give me a shout and I will either answer them myself or confirm with the BFMC Committee.

Last year was a good start apart from the damn weather, but it was definately a foot in the door for more future events.

Come and support FPVUK and get us recognised to a wider audience and in the best possible light.

Hi Guys,

So far we've had a good response to the meet.

If any ones interested, there's a few accomodation choices very close to the site and I have listed some here.
I can personally recommend the last one on the list. Run by a very nice couple and the breakfast is wonderful. Only a few rooms mind so you'll have to beat me to it.
Any problems let me know and I'll see what I can sort, I have 1 or 2 options up my sleeve.
