I noticed mine had been held at the depot on the online tracking.  So I went in when I was passing, and was able to pay the charges without the letter, just going off the tracking number.  Try ringing the depot, and asking about it, they may let you pay over the phone.

I'm not sure I'll do a build thread as such, maybe just a few choice photos.  I'll be following the ritewing build videos pretty closely anyway..  I'm going to make a start tomorrow, by clearing my workbench!

Just had a look and mine has cleared LA and is on it's way, what kinda customs bill are we looking at if it gets stopped?

Here's a useful website... but it only calculates customs/duty... it won't include any "charges" by the parcel farce ripoff merchants

based on a $300 purchase (kit plus lam) and $55 shipping, you're looking at nearly £50 customs/duty

You need to recover R&D, testing, and tooling costs so £250 ain't bad considering :)

I wasn't questioning the product cost.... just the import fees. To say your happy with paying £50 ....  well you might as well say your happy burning £50!!

The Mrs is rich though, she has all my money every month  >:(

Is a $300 kit just the foam parts and motor mount or does that include the motor/esc combo, push rods, clevis and nose cone to cover the cameras too?

I really don't need one of these, but watching Chris' build video makes me want to build one too, looks like excellent project.

It's 20% of the value. So bang on VAT. You pay it on all other items you buy in the UK so why not something you import? If I was the government I would add more than that to cover the parcels that slipped through the net.

nope, just the bits of foam and some laminating film (I think you get a motor mount too)... clevises/horns/nosecones/pushrods/motor/esc are all extra and will land you in the region of $600 shipped

so all in, one of these bad boys will cost you in the region of £510 including shipping and customs.... not forgetting the parcel force charge of £18, and all this is before you add any FPV gear
