Come join the fun Teejay! ;)

I thought I'd add a little info on what I've done different on this and why...

With us all running the same airframe and power system the three main factors that will impact on straight line performance are Lipo condition, setup (reflex and cofg mainly), weight and drag.

Lipo condition is out of our hands to some extent, its either a goodun or not, looking after our packs over time is the best way to keep up performance.

Setup will come as we test the planes and theres likely to be an optimum config that we'll all end up using to some extent.

Weight is dictated by the gear we're using and something we may or may not find that important aslong as we're within a few grams of each other. Unfortunetly I've had to use some heavier servo's (14g each) as its all I had.

Drag I think is the main factor that we can effect directly, with this in mind I'm doing all I can to reduce it (within reason of course)... the stick mount takes half of the motor and mount out of the airstream, I've mounted the ESC internally as thanks to Gordon we know the powertrain is  only pulling 10amps or so WOT meaning with a 25amp ESC its not going to need cooling, I've sanded off the mould seems and tidied up the moulding on the trailing edges (both wings and fins) and finally all joints resesses etc will be taped or filled.

This is the type of motor mount we're using, a cool thing about this model is the motor thrust line is moulded into the airframe so any straight mount will give you the required motor angle.

g.collins

nice one Nigel, I have ordered some thanks.

Pasty

thats mine maidened, it didnt need any reflex so that must be fixed in the wing section, its not crazy quick but fine for our purposes... I blatted it around at full throttle for a few mins then landed to check heat in components... all good.

Now its waiting for the cameras to arrive and chat gordon up some more to build us some CP antenna.... or I'm stuck with the omni.

g.collins

Nice one Steve, I'm glad your up and going, hows Gary's coming on.
I have panted one side of my one, to help my spotter tell which way round it is.
:D G

Nice G!

I've got some yellow and black paint.

All that's left on mine to just maiden it is to solder on the ESC and sort out the canopy.

Camera will be here in about a week.

How hard is it to make a clover leaf G? Could do with some help on that if you can. Maybe come over your place and make a couple?

Pasty

Come over whenever you like Gary, their not that bad really, just a bit time consuming.
I could do with another one, So we could make them at the same time.
My brother has ordered a plane now, so I got him to order me a spear one, I can see this one in bits in the future the way I fly.
:) G

hexo

Cool G,

You got the parts or will we need to order that? If not then can you let me know what to buy. If so then am happy to pay for the bits.

Weekend good for you? Sat morning to afternoon?

g.collins

I'm working from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, so morning is probably best.
I have the wire and about 600mm of coax, but I haven't got any of the SMA things.
