Our cams arrived today (finally), mounting them tonight so should be good for her fpv maiden tomorrow... woohooo!

pics to come

I've fired up the 5.8 fpv gear and I have to say I'm very impressed, i left the camera/vtx etc in the workshop and went for a walk up the street and got surprisingly far, it was only when i walked behind my house I lost signal.

The camera is also very good, the night vision is excellent, it was like day light under and around street lights, easily flyable.

well chuffed

g.collins

nice one sounds like your all set now.

My 5.8 gear is also installed and pretty much ready to race! Roll on Saturday! And damn to working.  ;D

Nice one guys! Whilst i wont be able to join the races (4hr drive, though will be holidaying in Cornwall in June), This thread has inspired me - I like the idea of cheap, light, small 5.8GHz. Figured it would be good in an EPP mini swift or Gordons fox.

So, Ordered my VTx and VRx from crazy shopping cart (cheers Steve!). They are actually a subsidiary of the trusted SDS hobby that many people use. Delivery was 10 days.

Now I'm trying to figure out the Tx pinout...the range video site is useful (similar unit). how do you power it? Bit worried about Gary letting the smoke out :(
Perhaps I'll get a 3.3V reg from maplin and take 5V from a spare channel off my radio receiver?

Think I'll get a cam + lens like yours Steve...

Keep up the good work!

Hi Matt

I'm running mine on 1 cell also, myself and GaryB have noted that they get warm/hot, particularly the underside of the vtx around where the antenna connects.

We'll see how long they last but I've had mine fired up for a good 8-10mins and the heat seemed to level off so hopefully its fine.

TX pin out is marked by AV on the back.

and 4hrs drive isnt much if you come down for a race/general fpv weekend ;)

BigMouse

What capacity 1S batts are you using on that vtx/cam?
and I wonder how long they are lasting ?

Pasty

I'm using an old 1000 pack which only takes around 600... 600 gives around 1.5hrs safely. But being 1s you can use one of your bigger 3s lipo to run your field charger and charge in the field.

BigMouse

That's good, never realised it would last that long!
