Fantastic thread, enjoyed following your progress. Like you before this build, I'm now doing the rounds putting together some idea for my own first FPV build. What sort of results are you getting with Range/Signal quality? How much do you think it's cost you? (I'm about to pull the trigger on my Bixler order).

Looking forward to seeing more videos.

As for how far i went on the vids i am unsure "edit google earthed it and it said 550m" but i had no issues at all with signal until i put it in a hard bank after i went a wee bit past the Van, i had 1 beep from my TX "turnigy 9x std, with frSky module" and that was it that goes for the Vtx also i had a little fussiness same place but nothing other than that was rock solid.

Thanks for that, I've copied your list to use as reference. How do you feel about that total amount? more then you thought? I guess it's like everything else.. I'm sure you'd have bought that in stages to arrive at where you are now with your setup. Most of it is transferable to future aircraft too huh?
I've ordered a Bixler but it's on back order from the HK UK warehouse.

Whats next for you? plans to improve on any of it?

Total amount is understandable as i started from scratch i had nothing, so had to buy everything, but yes its just a progression over a while and been used now on many more planes, tricopters and still got spares if needed. as for upgrade the bixler is sorted only thing im after is a nice OSD, looking at Cyclops Storm v1.2 with RTL. its just a case of buying the stuff you need now, so you dont need to change it out for something else later on like the ubec get a nice 1 in there first as last and your sorted to upgrade rite up to full FPV with P&T.

Nice thread indeed!  I'll be using this as reference to building my Bixler 2.

I've currently got the Bixler 1 up and running but I threw it together! Still flys nice!

Looking at your shopping list, WOW! I was in the same boat a few months ago, had nothing, on hobby king alone I've spent about £1k

Still, keeps me off the streets ;)

got an hour or so spare today so knocked this up,

added a few more CF rods to the Fuse.

Did you need to add much weight to the tail to balance the COG with the Gopro onboard?

by moving the Radio Rx and the LC Filter to the rear, my CG was very good with all the fpv gear in the pod, i had to move my battery back about 15mm. Sorted.

you only need a little weight when its that far back on the tail.

exactly what i need.  i am at the beginning of my Bixler 2 FPV build.
just building up my shopping list too.  though I dont think i will get as much cool gear as you.

My main issue is strengthening the plane, changing the horns, clieves, carbon fibre etc etc.
