I think the thumb on top of the wing is where I was getting it wrong - more of a natural (and powerful) throw this way.

About 180-185mm back from the leading edge of the wing Cyper, that should do for the maiden and about 190 for normal flight should be the perfect CG.

A "baseball" chuck is definitely the most reliable, a javelin stance with the wing in your hand stretched fully back and a good lob with all your body, thumb over the top of the wing and fingers underneath. You'll have plenty of power in that setup to launch it great first time. I used to side launch and changed to overhead/baseball at the request of Brucey, the spontaneity of my launches wasn't good for his blood pressure.

About 2-3mm of up reflex on the elevons is good, more like 4mm for the maiden for sure.

Hi Cypher, I use those Hawkeye DTF UHF modules you listed. Not tested them together yet at range but I used the deluxe Tx with the 100mW orange rx and got out to 3KM and still was only getting occasional packet loss. Would be confident in them getting out to 10KM but have no way to monitor RSSI yet.

Had to add over 100g of weight for it to balance on the CG. Anybody else had to add weight?

No, what batts are you using? By the AUW you're running you should have enough weight forward of the CG.

Also you definitely measured form the leading edge of the wing and not the centre bay?

If you're struggling to balance it forward, move the motor forward to the other side of the mount.

How heavy would that folding prop be compared to yours iPeel ?  Could that be dragging the weight back a bit ?

Yep', that's the right point to take the measurement. I'm running those battery sizes as well and have the batteries as far back as they can go, you should have about 30mm to play with pushing the batteries forward.

If you don't want to reverse the shaft the the motor, you could look at repositioning the motor mount forwards as far as you can, it's probably too long to reverse the mount and get decent prop clearance?

Maiden it with the weight in the nose then you know what target CG you're looking for.

Mine is 2.2kg, my old one was 2.5kg. Weight isn't a problem mate, just get the cg set and you'll be fine

I'm planning to use 2x4000 4S Multistar batteries, the total weight is about 650 grams. This sounds ok?

I used 3M Blenderm tape, and the weaving method. It's very strong

They they'll just be OK. These are stubbier than the normal aero batteries but taller, they will just, but only just fit in the height of the battery bay at the shallowest part of the bay.

What do you guys recommend for the high and low rate throws?

Also does it need some expo?

Mine are 15mm low rate and 20mm high rate for elevator movement and the same for aileron movement. That's measured at the end of the elevon nearest to the winglets.

I'm running 50% Expo.
