Ditto, minus the thread lock. Hope I haven't just jinxed myself!

Brave man not using thread lock ☺

Brucey

Or stupid... One day I'll find out!

dp106

I guess it's more important on quads with more vibrations, that's when I learnt the hard way what happens if you don't use it :-[

I suppose it makes it easier parting the motor from the wreckage.  :P

Brucey

Ha yeah... so what's your excuse ;D

Yup, the two mounting holes (with threadlock) are just fine. The mount itself is sturdy as holy hell, no chance of bending that in a hurry. Well, hopefully not...

I just flew mine. Here's the wind from the Shoreham METAR: 22025G35KT - 25kts gusting 35kts, and my field is surrounded by trees. Made things exciting but I've flown in worse. I figured that if it can't handle a bit of wind then it's pretty useless :)

Flies very very well. Really stable given the conditions. The launch was done like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol4YCp72Rns On the 10x7 prop there isn't oodles of power but more than enough for me. I'll be playing with the props to get maximum efficiency. The weight of mine is 2.1KG all up minus gopro.

So yeah, flies nicely and nothing broken, so I'm pretty happy with that. Only thing that needs doing really is getting rid of the right thrust as it made if want to fly sideways aha. Also I need to cut some area of the wing off in front of the prop as there is about 1/4" clearance, which makes a hell of a racket and sounds like it's shaking itself to bits.

Nicely done! Glad the maiden went well.

Not sure about the launch though. Everybody knows this is the way to launch a wing:

Good thing I did put my coffee down. That's too funny, not that I've ever done anything like that...

Just measured the battery voltages, after 7 or so minute flight and all the setting up. Down to 16.3V, actually 16.3089V because I have a 6 digit multimeter and too much time.

Laughed my head off when I first saw that video. Hoping they do Spockfest again this year it was a hoot last year.

Maiden into the sea, brave stuff! Glad it went well. I've got my motor on the outside of the mount to try and increase that gap.
Oh and 95mph into a goal post will bent the mount 8)

dp106

That's how I'm intending to mount mine to keep the noise down a bit. Dies it balance out alright? I've got 2 2200 4s to go in it which from the looks of it is less than most are using..

Brucey

I've got 2x 3000 4s and I think it's slightly nose heavy. That's also with a go pro in its case.
You'll have to see,  but don't be afraid of adding some ballast,  it really doesn't mind the weight.
