Cheers guys, ordering some of those batteries now :) I might try and bend the motor mount back slightly. I was thinking about putting a mix in for some down elevator on the throttle but then that will probably mess up the Vector as it will interpret it as me putting input in.

If it's all assembled it ends up being easier to remove the mount from the bird and remove the motor then bend it properly, I've tried cutting corners and trying to do it all assembled with bad results!

Trouble is the foam is now glued underneath so not sure I can get the mount back off now :(

You should be able to get one of the missus's best kitchen knives and tease it between the plate and the foam to get them apart. I've had the foam off the bottom of mine for maintenance a few times.

Cool think I better try that else I can see the plywood breaking rather than the mount bending.

Also I personally prefer having the pitch change with throttle. Unless it's a pattern ship which this isn't.

In full size flying which is what I'm used to, one trims for an airspeed, and sets throttle for climb/descent. So you might trim for 150kts indicated and set 23 inches on the manifold pressure to maintain altitude.

I like my normal models set up this way, especially FPV ones. This is because I then get a good idea of how fast the aircraft is going just by feel. If there is no change in pitch all the way from max speed to stall then that makes things harder IMO.

I was going to have the mix switched so it was only on when Ruby was in manual mode to avoid this very thing

Got the foam off as far as the piece that comes up through the middle then it broke. Hey ho, won't look any different once glued back on. I've put holes through the foam where the screws are so hopefully I should be able to get to them without pulling the foam back off..

I've added two washers either side at the back to see if that helps. Looking at the mount it looks more likely to snap than bend. Or sods law says it will for me!

The mount is surprisingly soft. Mine bent quite easily to be honest.

Also a good point RE the screws. I cut holes so I could access the nuts after the foam was glued on, I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned in the manual to be honest. Although the manual is a little sparse...

It'll bend, it's just a matter of making sure the right bit bends! The thing will want to bend on the bottom of the mount if you're not careful.

I've made a 2 degree block using the table saw and I just hammer the mount against it to get it at the right angle and flat. Another option is to mount the base in the vice and prise the motor mount with a large screwdriver.

Went out the other night and it all nearly ended in disaster. First flight was fine. Second flight I tried to trim out the servos better by shortening the control arms. Once up in the air experienced two brown outs, the second of which resulted in an unscheduled heavy landing. I've ordered a 5a sbec to go in there which I'm hoping will solve the issue. But concerned now if the servos are both ok though ???

What servos are you using? I use a BEC now but originally ran the servos from the BEC on my JP energ pro ESC with no problems. That was with Hitec analogue servos though.
