mine flies real good without the gyro.and I have had some great flights, I just felt it would steady it in wined.
It tacks a few gos to discover the best way to fly thes plans, I discovered the best way to hand launch them, just the other day, it likes to be launched real fast.
regards G :)

Way more sensitive than anything else i've flown, I just have to lat go of it on full throtle and its off :P
Can;t use full throt for more than 25-30~ secs though, or the ESC overheats and disables the motor, interesting experience finding that out :+
I reckon mine would be smoother with a gyro, but then again i have been flying in wind only...

Ha Badwolve

Her is a link to the ESC, that I'm using, and the AP05 motor, My plane flies at just over 1/2 throttle, and will fly at full throttle continuously with out a problem. have a look at my latest video of the Mint Fox.

Hey G
iv started the Fox parts haul! some new items some reused.

Fox (36grams)
I have an Orange 2.4ghz Rx  (2grams)
3 nano servos (5.1grams total)  aileron, elevator, camer pan
2cell 210mah batteries (14.3grams)
Fpv gear (11grams total)

(68.4grams to this point)

still to get:
ap05 motor
Esc

(maybe 15grams?)

Hopefully i can keep the weight down on this build. hoping for sub 100grams :P

Miles

I haven;t used that motor, but have you considered the F1818, very neat little motor, High, KV, but it might eat your lipos though...

if i keep the weight down, with the ap05 i could punch the fox up high and then cruise. hopefully give me ok flight times.

lordchris

This arrived today  :P

this is my FPV set up for the fox :D

all i need now is the motor and ESC
:D

Hopefully this will be a very lofty long lasting easily transported Flying Machine!

Nice one Chris, I have posted the motor mount, and control horns for you today, I have the correct amount of angel on the mount so just mount it the same as mine, following the contours of the plane and you will be fine.

mr snoops

Hello I recently built up a fox as amini pylon racer sort of thing...i didnt really like the way it flew UNTIL i lessened the angle of attack ie lowered the leading edge of the wing only a couple of mm. needed ".it cleaned it up" aerodynamically speaking . This thing is really a chuck glider but if your gonna add power and rc etc think you'll find this makes a big differance. speed will remain speed instead of the wing angle turning it into lift all the time
have fun

Miles

Looks good, Might have to buy an orange one. Or maybe I could have a Tri fox, Orange green and pink :D
@Snoops
Pics, sounds like an interesting mod, but doesn;t it increase the stal speed?

Awesome thanks G!
tonight I'm going to install some servos.
il also be ordering my motor and esc.
I want to run this little fpv'er on 2cell 210mah packs
the ones I fly my beast on. Do I need to select the
esc with the diode? that says 2cell? I'm guessing so.
the next question would be....
what connector do I need for the esc to my Rx?
Its some kind of Jst connector but I'm not sure.

not sure about this wing mod idea. I'd like to see some pics also.

I compared my fox the the mosquito. it actualy looks like
I have less wing area and more weight!

I yous a red Jst connector, and those batteries are fine, you should get 10 Min's fly time, if you keep the weight down, my short wing fox is 100g, I run HYPERION G3 2 sell batteries.
I also fly the beast, and these batteries are good for that as well.

I modified my Fox wing attack angle as well - definitely makes it more flyable IMHO.

I cut a wedge shaped bit from the lower side of the fuselage wing cutout - tapering from nothing to a couple of mm at the front (use a brand new Stanley knife blade on it's own, not in the handle/holder) and then UHU glued the wedge bit back on the top edge - simples!!

Nigel.
You're only jealous 'cos the voices aren't talking to you  :D

Hello again G
quick question. What prop would you suggest with that AP05? throwing together the last order of bits tonight :D
cheers Chris

ps. The motor mount and control horns arrive today! thanks very much! they are top quality!

Iv been toying with the idea of building a nano pan and tilt set up with 2tiny 1.7gram servos! but think I will a little while. I want to build a large 2nd wing
to make a really floaty fox! then il build a pan/tilt for it. I also have a tiny compass to mount as a little navigation aid. not sure if it's over kill or not needed but maybe a heading will help.
