Ok, Just an update on what i settled on.  I bought some ply sheet, set about some plans - Rob from FlyingWings was kind enough to send me his CAD files to tinker with.  As it turns out the ply sheet i bought was to small to cut new modified side plates which kind of forced my hand to do something else with the existing design.  Secondly, Rob intially sent me the centre sections of foam an inch to wide for the frame but soon sent the right size promptly after.  (This has given me the idea to widen the center section ply to accomodate the wider foam - but more on that another day!)

Pictures paint a ......

So that is finalised.. just need to mount the main cam and servo inside the ball and use a slipring to power the insides. This will enable the cam to look straight down.  I've also had some tiny button hole cams turn up from a bongood sale ages ago. Inspired by IPeels idea I might stick those in the wings facing out for circling or rear facing......

Really nice work, where did you get the camera bubble from ? looks like a bit from a tie fighter ?

Cheers Rob...  I had a really old IP Cam which was utterly useless... I wanted something to survive a belly land so a simple servo/tilt and a boardcam wouldn't do, oh and not upset the flight characteristics.

Clever stuff, looking forward to seeing how this "pans" out.
Mines done I must post a picture  :)

Looking Good GD. I have been doodling some ball shaped pan tilts for a while now, but got no further than that, so... Will follow this with great interest :)

Props Tim, that looks awesome. We've been talking for a while about something similar and you're going a professional job there.

OK, some more of the ball cam... Cut some shims to mount the servo and slip ring to center.

Glued and fitted the shims:

Everything in place ready to be wired up..

just need to mount and test before assembling the frame.

I want one, they are showing out of stock now though ( Evo2.)

What I also want is a finish on it like shown in the shop, but I can't get anywhere near that look, how do you get it like that and does anyone offer it as a service ? :)

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Looks like it has been solar filmed over the top of Lam?

They should be back in stock soon Ian, I think Rob's been waiting for a foam delivery which was some weeks late but came in on Friday (typical as it was a great day to fly).

I can cut you some cut vinyl if you need it and have the design you want, I think Rob got that look by laying down the white and red stripes first then layering the black over it after cutting the zigzag edge  on his vinyl cutter.
